Any Buck guys from here going to the Oregon knife show in Eugene in April???

Oregon, I really have too many knives to have a list. If I find something I like I will get it. Joe Houser always brings below priced Buck Knife deals and they go quick.

Spyderco CEO use to bring deals, but did not last year. Sal always attends and that speaks volumes. One more reason I have given up on the Portland knife companies.

Buck, Spyderco, and Becker fixed blades for me.

You couldn't be more right.

When the paper stone 112s and 110s first came out Joe brought a mess of them to the show. He may just bring a pile of Marksman 830s. Yes. I gotta get there early now. Thanks for reminding me. Happy hunting.

I have to find a recent photo of Bernard Levine so I can recognize him since he won't have a table I can easily find.

I contacted OKCA and asked that they relax the security setting on the TABLE HOLDERS pdf so I/we could print them out for reference and note taking. I haven't heard back yet. So I took screen shots of the three pages (there are six pages shown below, 3 dark and 3 light) of table holders and here they are for your amusement. However, I am not satisfied with how they print out: too dark or too light (I failed to make them easily readable, I don't work with text often in photography so few skills here). Use them if you can.

The demonstrations schedule. Most occur on Saturday.

I've seen the forging demo and was amazed by the tiny simple furnace and the making of a knife as if by magic. Very rewarding.

Martin Schempp has such skill in flint knapping that I believe he could knapp my boney head, or any other dense substance, into a fine edge.

I routinely miss most of the demos as I can usually only visit on Sunday. I would enjoy reading about your impressions of the demos if you care to hammer your experience into words here. And/or a video would be well received. THX.

Joe Houser told me that he hadn't even handled a Marksman 830 yet so I don't hold out much hope that he will bring any to sell to us at the show. And he will be there and that is good news. I have a repair/rehab project knife to show him to see if something can be done. This show is a great opportunity to hand off projects/spa candidate knives to Joe for him to take back to Buck when he drives back to Idaho after the show. Make sure that you have contact information and a container/ziplock to go with what you give him to work on.

I gave Joe a bad QC brand new pink Buck knife at this show and two weeks later a new was mailed to me.

Buck representation at OKCA this weekend:

Bill Finney will be displaying his collection of 401 Kalingas and 402 Akanua.

Joe Houser will be displaying a collection early Lucite handled knives.

Bruce Dollinger will be displaying a portion of his knives from the Buck Custom Shop.

Metallurgy Seminar tomorrow @ 8AM: Frank Cox (Western Sales Manager for Niagra Specialty Metals) and Bob Skibitski (Senior Process Metallurgist CPM from Crucible Industries) will give a powerpoint presentation on the steel making process focused on knife steels. And there will be a Q & A afterward. I want to catch this.

Well, there are no Marksman 830s at the show... Joe is there, Leroy and Bruce Dollinger are there too... :)

Receiving report from your sis?

I'm still stuck back at the ranch working chainsaw and tending slash fire. Sunday for me, as usual.

You know ITE that I'm looking for a large utility spear point Wire Jack. The show chairman collects wire jacks. He is too busy running the show to display, trade, vend or even discuss knives. Sounds like a real job putting on this show. Thank you for your hard work Dennis Ellingsen.

I'm wanting a horizontal carry belt sheath for a 124, behind the back for the right hand. Maybe a sheath maker will be there. I should get two, one for my left hand for balance. Two would look a little dramatic and then there's how to keep pants up with all that steel on the belt... Suspenders, haven't worn them since I was seven.

I just got back from the show where I spent quite a bit of time visiting with Joe Houser, Bruce Dolinger, and Leroy Reimer. Super people, I purchased a Buck 110 customized by Leroy, a belt buckle from Bruce, and a couple from Joe. Also found a couple other great deals. Alot of great knives to look at. I am going back tomorrow with my father and one of my brothers. Maybe pick up some more and go to the gun show next door as well as Cabella's before going back home. Tomorrow there will be a few sellers that show up that could not be there today. Not as many Buck Knives there as I hoped. Mostly Joe, Bruce, and Leroy and a few stragglers here and there.

Aah, I knew that someone would be asking for pictures. I will take some pictures tomorrow at the show including some of the displays and such. As far as the pictures of the knives I purchased you will all have to tune in to Armands (ItsTooEarly) Sunday Picture Show this Sunday. I will post pictures of what all I picked up than. No big bowies or fancy stag handles but some nice stuff anyway.

I was there for 6 hours today. Sat in two excellent seminars. I did get a Buck knife from Bruce Dolinger also.:D I also talked to Joe Houser.

CEO of Spyderco was there again. Sadly, ZERO Portland Oregon knife companies there. Now you know why I do not collect them anymore.

Just got back from day 2 at the Eugene knife show with my Father & Brother. Buck Knives were still a bit scarce and most were double what they are generally selling for including some that were more than sky high. I still managed to pick up a couple Buck knives as well as a couple other brands that I found a good deal on. It was much busier with Leroy, Joe, and Bruce not being able to stop and talk very long before they had customers to stop and answer questions to or to sell a knife or two. Alot of Randall's, Ruana's and other great quality stuff and lots of not so great. I took a different vehicle today thinking the camera was in the console and soon realized I did not have the camera so no pictures at the show.

Here is a few pictures of my spoils as well as a list with what I paid for each.

Buck BCCI silver belt buckle $65.00
Buck Vanguard with elk handle scales & elk cutout signed by Chuck and CJ in wooden display case $40.00
Buck 112 Founders addition with the Buck Knives circular tang stamp in black case with brown leather sheath $22.50
Buck 110 Custom by Leroy Reimer with Armadillo and turquoise scales and 154cm blade $145.00
Buck 116 Caper build out with Cherrywood handles NIB $45.00
Buck 186 Take-apart 2 blade custom by Joe Houser with gold nitrate coating on 1 blade in black Buck Limited Edition box. $200
Buck 889 Strider black folder NIB with special tang stamp from Joe Houser $50.00
Buck 560 XLTI NIB with papers and sheath $40.00
Buck 110 Stag Damascus NIB with brown leather sheath and all papers. $120.00
Al Mar Shugato #4001 $150.00
Case Canoe 1977 Blue scroll stag $40.00

They are not for sale. This is just what I got them for at the show.

Make sure you scroll down to the very bottom to read the final comments.
