I guess the distinction I'm seeing is that 12020 prohibits a concealed dirk or dagger, whereas 626 prohibits ANY dirk or dagger, concealed or not, (and fixed blade over 2.5 inches, etc).

the problem i see is the inherent ambiguousness of the various weapon laws and the fact that the sections are in different places in the penal code.

it is difficult for anyone to be well versed in all the laws and be totally compliant. not to mention the various county and municipal codes.
