Any chance of a stainless Becker?

Stainless? (shudder). In MY OPINION...Stainless is for folders. Period. Carbon Steel all day, every day. Need rust protection? Get it duracoated or something by someone who knows how to do it right.

I'd love to see the Tweeners released in stainless, frankly. I prefer smaller fixed blades (6 inches or less) in stainless. It's very humid here in the summer, especially at the lake, which is when and where I use my knives the most. Hell, I'd be happy with good ol' 440C (to keep the price down). 154 CM is preferable, however.

The D2 of the 24 is semi stainless, and I love mine. 154cm, or S30V Tweeners would be great. Sooner or later ESEE will have their stainless out, and I'll replace my 4 and maybe pickup a three or Izula.

Well all the discussion on another thread about the durability of 1095 is helping me relax about the rust issue, but I would JUMP ALL OVER an 11 in a basic stainless steel, say 440c. That would be awesome..

I have a clone 16 of sorts done in S30V and right now I am pretty darn impressed with it. The two things you might not care for are the cost (twice as much) and mine doesn't work as well with a fire steel. The latter is not a big deal since I carry a pocket knife that works and also leave the OEM striker attached via a lanyard. S30V is a bit harder to sharpen, but it stays sharp longer...A trade off. With all of that said, I'm be up for buying a BK16 in S30V...In a heartbeat!

They offered an 11 in SanMai steel. They look pretty cool, but the 1095 CV will be fine. I stopped oiling my BK11 and my BK14. They are my EDC knives and have yet to have an issue with corrosion yet, and I live pretty close to salt water.

My backyard is a tidal pond, and although relatively new to the Becker world, I can already see that I am going to have some challenges with rust. I can't use each of them every day, and I pulled out my BK9 yesterday and saw a little corrosion spot. I love the value and utility of these blades, and I couldn't afford to have them all in stainless, but it sure would be a nice option for one or two of my least used blades. Then again, I'm still saving for college for the kids, so.....maybe some tweeners in 440C or 154CM? Until then, I am learning just what "rust never sleeps" really means and maybe I'll have to find a way to use some of my Beckers a little more often.

I'm originally from Southern Louisiana - a good ole Cajun boy. I never owned a Becker whilst living there (48 years), not did my Dad. But both of us had plenty of older knives with high carbon steel content. Yet neither of us had rusting problems. We even owned a small "fishing camp" together right in the marsh and kept a few knives there for convenience. No problems. The key is simply upkeep.

Use a knife, clean it, hone it, oil it (today I use a tuff cloth, then we used gun oil), and then put it up. Never an issue.

My son brought me a hand made dagger of questionable heritage (he bought it at a Renaissance festival) that is terribly rusted. "Why Dad? I never used it. It just lived in its sheath in a drawer." We had a talk (he had been taught better, but you know kids) and it is now in my possession to clean and sharpen for him. I shouldn't talk, though. I have an old Boy Scout hatchet that rusted due to neglect. Put away in the garage, soaked during a flood and then forgotten. That is now a project that I plan to tackle soon as well. Looking forward to it. There is a nice tool lurking under the crap.

Moral of the story - 1095 is just fine, even in a salty clime, as long as you take care of it as needed.

i hear wal*smart sells stainless knives :)

yeah. use it, wipe it, go...

i wipe my scythe down to remove the dirt, spray some oil on it, bam. the edge is always shiny, even after dewy dewy grass.

but a high stainless tech steel BK15 would rock :D for the kitchen :D

Why limit yourself when there are such superior steels for knives than the 10XX series.

The smaller knives in something like M4 and the larger ones in 3V would just be amazing. Both non stainless but vastly superior to any 10XX series steel.

Yes, but think about how much those Beckers would be at that point.
