Any chance the szabofly will see regular production?

Just curious if the szabofly is scheduled to be mass produced again in the foreseeable future. I might pick up one sooner than later if not. Beautiful, beautiful knife. The most beautiful Spyderco has ever made, to be sure.

Isn't it currently in production? Knifecenter has them in stock.

It's in current production, but is one of Spyderco's restricted models, along with their automatic knives.

Well, with that knowledge, I'm kind of curious why the price is so high. When they first came out, it was understood that they were very rare and this might be all there ever is, so 200 seemed perfectly reasonable. But now it's common and 154cm + steel handles somehow makes it cost more than a 42?

Well, that bothers me, but I love the design enough to just deal with it and buy it anyway.

I guess what I'm asking is--are they going to see a price drop in the next year?

Probably not. The original production was at a much lower price point, but it was also halted because of difficulties in manufacture. Parts were also made overseas on the original (which saves cost), and the new version is made entirely in the USA. These factors mean higher costs all around.

Not to mention the loss of economies of scale...not likely to many LEOs and the like ordering Szabos. :(

Well, the design is so good that, even at 200, it cannot be ignored. It remains on my list.

I was just hoping more for an every-man's bali like the spyderfly. Which, for the record, and having owned both, I preferred (in flipping, anyway) to my 41MC. I'd probably prefer to use the 41 for cutting though.....brilliant blade.
