Any clever solutions for carrying loose change?

Another option: A. G. Russell sells a leather pocket case called the "Coin Safe" that looks pretty handy if you have $50 to spend. A manly sort of coin purse. Not quite as manly as the 'roo scrotum, but a bit more elegant!

I've got one of Fred Perrin's coin saps. Kinda neat, but you've got to put A LOT of change in it for an effective sap, and it's this big heavy blob that pulls your jacket to one side.

So I just dump it into one of the cup holders in my truck, and at home I keep a jar on a stand next to the door. When they get full I take them to the bank and dump 'em into one of those Coin Star machines. I usually end up with between $30 - $50, you give the teller the ticket and they exchange it for paper money.

A long time ago, I had a little, red, plastic keychain with the ShopRite logo that was made to hold a single quarter.

ShopRite (a grocery store chain, for those in different regions) uses shopping carts that lock together, and require a quarter to unlock. You get your quarter back when you return the cart to a bay or a chain of carts.

I guess they had given these out as a promotional item in the 90's or something. Mine wore out a few years ago and I've been looking for something similar ever since. I RARELY ever need cash wile walking around. Like others have said, I only really need it when I'm in my car, so I have some pocket change (and a separate stash of quarters specifically for parking and bridge tolls) in there.

Still, it was good to have a quarter on hand. If only for when I was in college, and a damn soda from the machine cost $1.25...

A camera film pot with cottonwool bud/tissue wadding worked well back in the day.

I've just watched the youtube video on the fred perrin coin sap. Looks neat but unfortunately I would get 3 years for carrying that in this country.

I like the section where he recommends dropping a couple of batteries or ball bearings in there for more groin mashing capability

You didnt lose one of those in a holiday home in wales did you? I found one when I was a kid, there was £3 or £4 in there from memory, the jackpot when you're that age.

Old school but it works.

I was thinking of one of those but couldn't rembember what they were called, I remember the football ones too!

my changes lives in my truck ashtray.

Used to use Zip-lock bags. Sandwich to transport. Quart and gallon for longer-term storage.

Quarters go in the center console of my car and the rest goes in an antique glass milk jug in the corner of my bedroom next to my dresser. Convenient place to pour the loose change when emptying my pockets at the end of the day. When the jar gets full enough, I take the accumulation to the bank-they run it thru a counter for me.

If you visit any tourist venues, you can probably find small leather or plastic pocket coin holders. I collect the leather ones that are about 1 1/2 inches square and have a fold-over top. Every airport in every country sells these same holders but with a different local name on them. They are small enough to fit in your pocket and hold a fair amount of change. Those plastic egg shaped holders can be ordered over the net easily and are small, but the ones I like to carry are even thinner and look like this..

Dunno if I'd consider it "clever", but I've always just used the ballistic nylon sheath that came with my Gerber LST 20 years ago. Works well. And gets positive comments at the store. Altho, it could just be they're relieved to see it wasn't a knife I was reaching for.

I was inspired by a co worker's duct tape wallet his multi talented son had made for him. It was at least two years old.

Made a prototype coin holder out of duct tape. It held up pretty well. It's successor is made out of Gorilla tape.the Gorilla tape version has lasted 2+ years with one minor repair.

Forgot to mention these coin pouches and accessories:D.

Exactly. Have a gallon ziplock in the glove compartment of my car for change. Any point I can, dump change in there. Never need to worry about having too much change, as cities are expensive to park in!

40 years ago I had a hippy friend who used to throw all his pennies on the ground for little kids to find..and so the pennies wouldn't prematurely wear out the pockets of his jeans.

73 now I've been picking up pennies on the ground for years..and always think of Kenny.

I throw my change in a jar daily and my wife uses it for garage sale money......and my jeans/shorts pockets NEVER wear out.

Take a piece of thin leather 3 " wide and apx 7" long.Thong up the sides so it is 3 x 3 and fold over the top and fit 2 press snaps in the extra inch or so and you have a 'stockmans' purse.
Sorry cant do pix to the web yet.

At home I use a lockable cash pan and a plastic jar with lid. If you use those candles that come in the big glass jars you can re-use those jars for holding coins, loose batteries, pens, etc. Once you've burned down the candle, put the jar in a freezer for an hour or so. When the wax shrinks and comes away from the glass I use a butter knife or something to pop the wax out. I then use a steel pad to clean out the wax residue then wash the jar like a regular glass.

In the car I use this little metal can with friction held lid that has a clear plastic window on top. The base of the can has a thin magnet on it and the can is used for storing nuts and bolts in the workshop. You can get them at the local Home Hardware/Canadian Tire. I keep it in one of my cup holders in the centre console or car door.
Here's what I'm referring to. Looks like it's actually a spice container (which explains the little holes at the top): http://www.magnatin.co.uk/live/shop/magnetic+spice+racks/magnetic+spice+rack299.html

Here's the one from Canadian Tire, though the one I got was sold as single cans in a bin near the front of the store, not a complete set like this one: http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/brow...BCanister%2BRack%2Bwith%2BEasel.jsp?locale=en I only keep a few loose coins in my pants pocket. The coins I EDC are in a small black leather pouch with a zipper that's kept in my BOB.
