Any cyclists?

I used to BMX as a kid, then MX'd, then SUPERBIKE AMA, WERA, and MCRA (see avatar #691). Got married with children and gave it up. Probably saved my life. Two wheels are fun, period.

Been looking at some new mountain bikes for the family and want durability, quality, and low maintenance. Local shop said they are all so close in quality and parts anymore that it really matters not. Looked at Cannondale, Giant, & Trek mostly. Any suggestions Tony?

I have a small herd of bikes even though I've thinned it out some recently....I'm down to 4 road bikes, 4 MTBs, 1 cyclocross and 2 framesets. :o Yes, I have a problem...

I'm not Tony but be sure to check out Specialized. I think they offer the best 'bang for the buck' out of any of the major companies.

I love cycling but can only manage around 30, sometimes 60 miles a week due to travel. I had a hand me down Trek 2200 that was way too old, small and flimsy for me and which I consequently broke while mashing up a hill. I replaced it with a 64cm Trek Madone 5.5 with SRAM Force group which shifts rough but rides real nice and fits me perfectly. Oh yeah...Trek's USA made.

Well, PorcupineMtns66 already found the link to my post about my bicycle tour from earlier this year. Since then I have been putting lots of local miles on my bicycle as well. Riding season is just starting to run out around here ... yesterdays ride was in the rain. The bike is desperately in need of a tune up ... and a wash, now. Here are a couple more pics from my trip.

One of the more amazing vistas along the Oregon coast:

It was an amazing trip ... worth every penny of the not insignificant expense, and every pedal stroke when I thought I didn't have another left in me. I still figure I will have to do it again someday.

Man, all you road guys make me want to get my Hoo Koo E Koo out and sling some mud again;)

...just as soon as finish my beer and put the Harley away for the winter:D

Sweet ride man. I remember you leaving for that trip. Looks like you had an amazing time

Thanks BH, BTW still looking at that Ducati thinking about spring!

I am sure this will get me flamed by all the "pure" cyclists, but I am a triathlete.

I enjoy the time on my bike more than any other discipline though.

Used to road race CAT 3, and did TT's. Road bike is a Klein Quantum compact w. Dura Ace and TT bike is a Fuji Ace w. an assortment of hardware. My MTB is a frankenstein bike - cheap-o frame w. cool hardware (custom made downhill wheels w. Chris King hubs, etc). I appreciate all forms of riding (Tri's, casual, commuting, MTB'ing) as it's all good.

I miss riding like I used to. Too many injuries, too little time these days. Sure do love collecting knives, however.
