Hey guys can you help me out with some budget drop point fixed blade for outdoor use. Thanks

Responses to this kind of thread typically focus on production knives, and I have no doubt that you will receive some excellent recommendations. Just to extend the range of options, here are a few kit knives that you might want to consider:

The Delta 5 drop point, which is currently my outdoors knife of choice:

And the Maverick, also from Knifekits, which makes for a sturdy slicer with a comfy handle.

I suggest a #510. Ragweed forge has a bunch of different models to choose from, can't go wrong with any of them though, and certainly not at the price they cost (around $10.00).

Here's a shot of the 510:

Forty bucks is a tough call these days.

This one is on clearance at the Grohman site right now for 50% off ($31) - the Oudoor knife - looks good. You have to go to their site to look it up.

Mora 2000 is not a drop point - but all around excellent blade by most peoples reviews. They go for about $33

Another scandi, non-drop point, but something that people often recommend. Higher end scandi blade than the lower end mora - it is a Jarvenpaa - goes for $46. I'm probably going to buy this one next.

Buck offers the Diamond back outfitter at 3 7/8" and the bantam drop points both at around $30-$40. I think they are pretty nice, but not as nice as the vanguard which will run you about $55.

Beretta are putting out versions of the Loveless Hunter. There's a design classic right there, so good umpteen have copied over the years from factories to custom makers. They're doing it in pretty with a Quince wood handle and in the far cheaper, but perhaps actually much more user useful, synthetic. If you can cope with FRN it may well be worth a look. They are made for Beretta in Japan from AUS 8, so no problems there. I guess it would work great as a hunting / field knife unless you're a purist or into reenactment. Dunno about price in the US, but the first site I landed on wanted $47 so probably sub $40 if you shop around.

Helle Eggen, CS Master Hunter, Fallkniven F1 are all sturdy, proven drop-points with excellent steels.

my vote goes to a mora...not bombproof but sturdy and they come decently sharp and don't take long to get wicked sharp with a basic stone and strop.
largest selection i have seen:

if that isn't your style, and you are looking for bombproof, you could take a look at the new becker neckers by kabar. shorter blade length, but sturdy and capable. the old ones came with pretty good factory edge, if a bit thick...i don't know about the new ones:

AFAIK neither the F1 or MH is under the alloted amount -- I would however suggest in a heartbeat springing the extra dough on an F1 if it is the style of knife your looking for.

A couple of the regulars here (including me) have put the Buck Diamondback to work. About $20 and available in a 4" model.

SOG Field Pup comes in at 4" and just under $40.

The Gerber Gator is also under $40.

How about the Cold Steel Pendleton Hunter? You can get them for $35, but they come in 3 or 3.5" blade lengths. As others have said, you can buy 3-4 Moras for that amount. They don't look like much but they are tough and cut like crazy.

The queen premium hunter is a great knife for the $ the US made marbles aren't bad either, and you can sometimes find them in that price range.

Moras for sure! Triflex Craftsman, Mora 2000 etc.
But for a few extra bucks you can get an Enzo Blade blank.
I've seen them 50-60$, thats just for the blade and corby bolts, no wood panels included.
My 01 Enzo is just about my favorite knife!
