Anyone know what the velcro loops on the back are intended for?

I can answer that.
I have the 1st generation of that pouch that was made about 18 months ago.
When I got the pouch there was a little card inside that said Bestglide wanted feedback.
I took the pouch out several times and sent the owner of Bestglide my many ideas, we emailed back and forth about the pouch for awhile.
The loops were intended to be used for rigging it on backpacks or vests but I quickly found out that a mini maglite slid in just about perfect.
When the owner of the company told me that the 2nd gen would have the loops shown to the back I thought it would be better to leave them how they were, that may be a comprimise(?).
I don't know though, I'm not a company insider just a guy that helped give ideas and feedback for the design of the 2nd gen.

BTW, I wish some of my other ideas were implemented like replacing the velcro on the flap with a snap and making it split belt loop so the pouch doesn't slide around on your belt.

Tony,

I pulled the paracord out and looked at it. I tried my Peak Matterhorn on it in the dark and the yellow dots don't seem to reflect anything. Thanks for the reason to open it up though! It's hard to resist taking it all apart and checking everything out. I think this weekend I'll pull out all the individual items and see if there's anything to remove or add. I'll be sure to take some pics when I get it all spread out.

I did find one little thing about the kit that I would change. On the flap there is only one small piece of velcro (about 1" square) to hold it closed and it's about a half inch up from the edge. With my additions the pouch is pretty stuffed and I'm a little worried about the flap catching on something and opening up. I'll probably head to a fabric store to find some extra velcro to stitch on for a little more security. I haven't sewn anything since home ec in junior high but I'll put some pics of the finished product whenever I get around to it.

EDIT: Mac you posted as I was typing. Thanks for the info on the loops. I'm sure I'll find some useful application for them but they are positioned to not be in the way if not in use. A snap on the flap might have been better as well. Actually I think two snaps, one on each end of it would have been great. It's a small gripe though and I'm totally satisfied with my purchase :)

As long as there's some sun this weekend I should be able to get some more pics. The lighting in my apartment is lousy.

Sun, I hope it comes out this weekend because I would like to get a good look at the components up close of this kit!
