in a Put Up or Shut Up weekend out in the Cherokee National Forest? Some friends of mine and I were going to attempt to put together a fun filled weekend of sleeping in the dirt, making fires, and making friends gathering. Possible contests are the usual, best shelter, best homemade gear, fastest fire starting (friction and ferro), a trade blanket, and some whiskey and laughter around a campfire. If you live in East TN or the area and are interested, email me, or PM me so I can make sure you get the info that is forthcoming. Tentative dates are Oct. 15-17th. Thanks to all. Moose

Is this limited to only people from TN? I'm in North Georgia and if I can get that weekend off, I would be interested in showing up.
 
Anyone can come, if you live in Cali and wanna come to the mountains, you are more than welcome to. I didn't give alot of notice, and there will be more than a couple of BF guys and gals there I hope. Moose
 
I am going to head out this weekend to do some site surveying in the Citico Creek Wilderness. I plan to leave Friday evening, truck camp friday night, get up early and head out to 5-6 different sights I got marked on the map as potential sights. I plan to locate a Primary (good weather) and a secondary (poor weather) site and get those marked and sent out with all the info at one time. Saturday night will be spent in the best site I find, and I plan to head back Sunday. If anyone is interested in going this weekend, email me. Thanks. Moose

How was it? I may just come for the day on the 16th
 
Wet and windy, was not very fruitful. Gonna go out this weekend with the familia, see how the little ones like it. If they give it thorough going over, and are happy, its a possibility. Thanks. Moose
 
Hey, I might be interested. I need to get away from the store more often anyway.
 
I have been talking to some folks and friends, I was curious if ya'll think a "truck" camping type of area would be more in line for this outing, as I am sure alot of folks want to bring some stuff to show off. I found a couple of places like this where we could fit everyone comfortably, but they are predetermined campsite, but have easy access to the woods. There would be ample parking close by, so you can manage the safety of your goodies. Ya'll let me know what you think. Moose

Have you picked a date yet Moose? Ive got to ask off for the days. Truck camping sounds good, I need at least three spots for my hotel sized tent and offspring that are coming...kidding.
 
Depending on the final date, my son and I may be able to break away...it's about a 5-hour drive from Augusta, GA...it does sound like a good spot!

The final date is coinciding with the Lunar Cycle. OCT 22, 23, 24. There will be a full moon on Oct 23. I will be taking Friday off from work, so I can head up Thursday to secure the Campsite. It will be in the Citico Creek Camping area. I will post the campsite number as we get closer and a detail off all the info I have at the time. The almanac calls for some cool weather that weekend, so, it should be awesome. Full Moon, cold air, roaring fire, whiskey, and WSS forumites, sounds like a fun time. I will be trying to secure some good seasoned Red Oak to burn and play with, as the last time I was up there, I got accused of green cutting Dogwoods. And as stated further up, anyone that wants to come is more than welcome, Kintuky, Jorja, Nofe Karolina, anywhere, if you want to come, let me know. Moose

I've got a youth-group camp out that same weekend over in NC/Pisgah National Forest:o I won't be able to make this one, but would love to do another in the future!

Man, I love Pisgah, I wish I get there more often, most times I see it, its at 80mph on my way to Chapel Hill. I hope you and the Scouts have a great time, and I will save you a spot at the next one. Be cool. Moose
 
I am interested in coming, I am off on fridays. I cant seem to get the PMs working or emails on this forum. I will try again !!!
