Any East Tennesseans interested

Just a quick update, I secured a full rick of Red Oak, and a substancial (sp) amount of white cedar for making bow drill kits. I am going to see my bounty later this week, but there should be enough for everyone there to make a kit, and take one home with them, God willing. Just lettin' ya know. Moose

I'm still hoping that I can make it. Is Citico Creek area north of the Cherahola Skyway?

Yeah, Northeast actually. Its easy to find and kinda out of the way. I will be posting grid coordinates, and have an address that a GPS nav could find. Those without either, will be able to use Mapguess to get close. Cells don't work there at all, so I can't say, here's my number call me. If you wanna come, I can get you there, promise. Moose

I love that part of the country. I usually head up to Tellico Plains and ride the Skyway on my murdercycle, but I am hoping that I can sell it soon and devote more time to family and the outdoors. I've been thinking about carrying my girls up around Tellico to do some camping, but I will be leaving them at home for this trip.

It is beautiful there. I tend to stay more in the SMNP, further north, but I was born in Walland, TN, and I have been in love with those mountains my whole life. The park is just to limited to what you can do. Its gorgeous there, but tourists and cars have just about ruined it. There are days in the summer where they say the air in the mountains is toxic. Toxic. Not hazardous, not harmful. Toxic. Oh, well, I still go there, and enjoy. If I die up there, then I can't think of a more beautiful resting spot. For our Gathering, though, the National Forest will do just fine. Moose

It's a real shame I can't make it. I'm having my gall bladder removed on the 14th. Ya'll have fun.

I wold be interested for sure. I might have something going on that weekend but if not, I may be able to go.

Blast!

I am going to be down in East Tennessee for some volunteer work on the A.T. in Great Smoky Mountains NP. The original date sounded great- I would have just come down a few days earlier, but I have to be over with the volunteer group by the evening of the 22nd.

Man, I wish I could go. We have a cabin outside the Big South Fork River and Rec Area and I just moved home after spending the last two years in Lenoir, NC. That whole area speaks to me. The plan is to sell here in 6-8 years and move back permanently. I hope you guys have a lot of fun!

Sorry, I had to adjust the date to give me time to get done with my out of town work, L.A. Next week, Houston after that. Plus I thought the full moon would be cool as well. Sorry for the inconvience.

Joe, I am still in for your skills gathering, I haven't forgot. Right now it looks like a go for Nov 14, I should be done being on the road for a while. Thanks ya'll. Moose

Too bad - if I make it you won't be able to check out my blades from Ray Laconico.

I still remember your small Busse.

If I make it at all it will be on Saturday - perhaps you can make a road trip and pay a visit.

If I'm up for it I certainly will. I have a hawk made for me by Steve at Coal Creek Forge that I think you would like. It's actually a very practical design for light hiking, fuel gathering for wood burning stoves, and cat hole digging. Regardless, I think it's starting to shape up into a heck of a gathering.

Oh, yes sir. I will try to post some pics of it when I return home. Moose

Its getting closer, and closer. I go this weekend to pick up the wood for the Gathering, and next weekend, I will be finalizing everything and making a full post of all the details. I think we're gonna have a good time. Moose
