Been contemplating stripping my Double Talon Mistress. Looking at the factory etching, there's a lot of tiny, fine lines going on in there. All of the ones I have done were just the big BUSSE block letter logo. Anybody etched one of these BG logos yet? Curious to see how it came out.

Personally, i would just strip a BG blade and not etch the logo.

A) I kinda suck at etching to begin with

B) Don't really care for the BG logo (would etch a "BUSSE" logo)

Up to you, post the results if you strip ya DTBM!

I've stripped two so far, BGAD, and BG AK47.

On the AK, I did a very quick chemical etch, and I think it turned out great, on both blades I did a forced patina.

Very Nice!!

Wow, Those look really cool. Especially the AK. Did you use different methods for the patina or did they just take on different colors because they wanted to?

I guess just because they wanted to, I wish I knew why they turned out so different.

I've thought about redoing the AD to see if I could get it closer to how the AK looks.

The problem would be that someone could pass it off as INFI down the road. I know that SR-101 rusts easier but that might not be evident right away.

Love that AD patina.
Now for the Stupid Question.
If you dont Etch the Logo, Does it just dissapear when you strip the blade ?

Thank you,

I didn't etch the AD, you can make it out pretty easy in the right light, if you zoom in on my pic above you can see it.

It depends a whole lot on what you sand it with. If you want it satin, you are going to lose more of it than if you just strip it and leave it rough.

This is my first piece of SR101. On my infi blades I'very always etched the heck out of them so I know the logo will survive a trip through the bead blasting cabinet to get off all the decarb before a rubdown with some steel wool and metal polish. Not sure yet if this one will get blasted or not but even if I don't, in my opinion, if you already have the stuff, etching is too easy a process to skip.

I would definitely agree if you have the stuff. I'm tempted to strip a 1 of a kind but I can't decide if I should just do it or get what I need to etch in the customshop logo first.
