Any Excitement For The Spyderco Szabo???

I've kinda been wanting to see a 4.5 in or larger folder from spyderco. This knife has a 4.6 in blade that is 4mm thick and made from cpm-s30v:thumbup:. Even with the giant blade the szabo is only 6.8 oz. It also has a compression lock on it which has been a favorite among spydie fans. It also has very attractive gold line carbon fiber handle scales. IMO this is a big jump for spyderco in the knife world. This will be one of the few + 4.5 in high quality, production folding knives with a good blade steel. I am planning to pre-order this knife as it is supposed to come out later this year.. So I'm wondering why there are no other threads on blade forums about this, am I the only person excited about this gorgeous beast? Does anyone see any major issues with the knife? I can't wait for it to come out.:D

Hell yes I'm excited! The lightning strike carbon fiber looks pretty cool.

I've been looking forward to this one ever since I saw the prototype. It's a definite must have for me. I'm planning on sending mine the Charlie Mike to get it waved.

lol. I was going to ask who was going to be the first to have CM wave theirs. This is a knife begging for a CM wave-job.

Ok so now I know I'm not the only one:stupid:. I also like the spyderco tuff, I don't have a frame lock and have really wanted one. I just think they're cool. I also want to try the cpm-3v steel. But I can only preorder 1 of them:grumpy:. This will be a tough choice, I'm leaning towards the szabo because it is just so different.

This is the one thing I'm excited for, more than anything else planned from spyderco. Can'y freakin wait for it. I've been dying for a big ole spydie to come along, and the design is just killer. Price point isin't all that bad either

It was my second though after seeing the knife. My first thought mostly involved salivating and grabbing lustily for my...wallet.

Every once in a while Spyderco comes out with something really exciting like the Warrior and now the Szabo. I wish they hadn't chickened out on making it a truly large folder [ at one time I read it was going to have a 5" blade] but it still looks exceedingly cool.
My main concern now is the price , it looks like it's going to be costly.

It's one totally bad-ass looking blade and, from a technical/engineering standpoint, an interesting and innovative design. The stop pin passes through a hole in the compression lock bar and Spyderco somehow managed to achieve a self close equal to that of a good midlock on a lock that really has no natural bias to closing. On the other hand, it's still wrong handed for me. It's also way too big for my tastes. Know my back pockets aren't wide enough to carry it loose and don't think my front ones are deep enough to carry it clipped. But, if I ever decide I need a folder that can be used with a two hand grip, I might still consider it.

How about a video ?

Thanks a lot!
Interesting (massive) knife, I like that strange blade shape. You can tell it's a Szabo immediately.

I will wait for a youtube review or two, but this looks like a must have for me because it's so unlike the typical small concealed leaf shape blade. Spyderco has a huge catalog of small "sheeple friendly" blades, it's time they branched out and did a few wicked offerings.

I agree. I have the Warrior and I'm waiting for the Pygmy Warrior. Like I said above, I dig the Szabo, but I hope they haven't priced it out of my reach. The description says something about gold tracings in the handle ? I wish they'd kept it simple and affordable.
Does anyone know what the price will be?
