do any of you folks have any experience/opinions with the swamp rat, swamp warden... i am in the process of maybe working out a trade for one.... i have never owned a busse or swamp rat... is it infi. steel like the busses...

cheers... mike

No, it's not INFI. Swamp Rat is excellent and has a great warranty as well. I can't see anyone being disappointed in a Swamp Rat knife as long as they like the style. My wife still carries the first Howling Rat I ever owned, and it has seen quite a bit of use.

Swamp rats are made, mostly, with SR-101 which is 52101 with a Busse specific heat treatment. I say mostly because some models have been done in D2 and ATS-34. The swamp warden in SR-101. I've never heard any comlaints except from wallets, purses, significant others, and financial advisors. They're like Lays potato chips...

It's actually 52100 with their famous heat treat. Great edge holding, great toughness, lifetime guarantee....you can't lose !!!!

I have two. Why, I don't know, but these knives are tough litle mothers. Very easy to carry and sharp too. The SR-101 w/ Busse Heat Treat gives great edge retention and ease of sharpening. I've done light battoning with it as well, with ZERO issue.

Like the other guys said, the steel isn't INFI, but it's still great. I don't particularly like the skeletonized handle, though. I'd rather get a Busse Game Warden. INFI is even better, and GWs have handles at least. ;) The only downside to the Swamp Warden / Game Warden design, in my experience, is that choil/guard/talon hole combo going on in there. If one removed those, and brought the edge of the blade right next to the handle, the GW would be a perfect knife.

Uh...Oh...Mike....Its all over now.

that's what i hear.... i don't think i'll ever get too deep in those busses.... they're waaay too much $$$....:o

i'm stoked.... this looks like a cool little knife... and spooky is right, it's very much my style...:D

I used to say that until I got my first Busse. Between the wife and I we currently have four Busses and two Swamp Rats.

Great choice. We have two Swamp Wardens and they are very handy. I recommend doing a cord wrap on the handle as it improves how it feels in the hand.
