Any Experience with the Civivi Faeger or Triptych?

The Elementum / Elementum II seem to be the "goto" Civivi knives but, being a little different, I'm looking at these 3" blade knives: the Triptych (3.15oz, 14C28N) and the Faeger (3.21oz, 14C28N).

If you've tried either of these knives, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

The only Civivi knife I've been able to get my hands on is the Mini Shakan - really like it but seems just a bit too small. I'll not being doing anything extreme with my EDC, just wanting it for small daily tasks and has a button lock with flipper and thumb studs.

Thanks for any opinions on either of these two knives you can give!

I haven't used the ones you are interested in but I am VERY HAPPY with the several CIVIVI knives that I have .
I just looked it up ; I have Fifteeen CIVIVIs and my coworker when he saw my Carbon Fiber "Damascus" Appalachian Drifter II he had to have one ! And he isn't a knife guy ; his only other EDC is a Kershaw Chill (a great knife also) .

You might want to take a look at this CIVIVI tool as well . I use mine often and it has held up just fine for years now .

I have a bunch of Civivi’s, including a Faeger. The action on the Faeger, like the rest of them, is very nice, very much above its price point. The button lock works smoothly with no hint of lock stick, no matter how hard I flip it open. As long as your hands aren’t too big (like XXL or bigger), you’ll probably find the size just right. The 3” blade is a good bit longer than that Mini Shakan, but the whole thing still fits nice and lightly in your pocket. The 14C28N blade steel comes plenty sharp and is perfectly adequate for light-normal cutting tasks. It’s one of my favorite TV time fidgeters. I haven’t seen a Triptych, but I would imagine it’s pretty similar to the Faeger, so picking between the two would be a matter of which one appeals to you most (and from what I can see, the Faeger is a few $$$ cheaper). For the money, I’d say you can’t go wrong with either one.

Wow, 15! That's fantastic! This will be my first Civivi, but after getting my hands on the Mini Shakan, I'm very impressed!

I've actually looked at the Appalachian Drifter - not really something I see myself carrying, but I grew up/live close to/went to college in the Appalachian Mountains - so the name intrigued me!

Thanks for your input!

Yeah, as I mentioned above, I was really impressed by the Mini Shakan I was able to check out the other day. I definitely like the styling of the Faeber better than the Triptych, so after hearing your thoughts about it, I think I'm leaning towards it.

I think my choice really comes down to three knives: the Mini Shakan (blue aluminum w/damascus blade), the Elementum 2 (carbon fiber G10 w/damascus blade), or the Faeger (ivory G10 w/damascus blade).

Faeger
