Sheath problems fix!

Took an old money clip and fitted it to the sheath with rivets …...solid!

Love the F1. Compact, low profile, but hard worker. Fixed the retention clip with a couple of ranger bands but still don't like like the sheath really, the knife has some play which seems to dull the edge a bit. Got a kydex sheath the way from Martin Swinkels :).

I do not own any yet but I have been eyeing the Northern Light NL 3 or 4. It seems like a well built knife (even if from Japan) and I like the stacked leather. I have been looking around to find any reviews from somebody who owns one. Even if I can't find any reviews, I will most likely wind up getting one in a couple months.

Had an F1 years ago and missed it, and had a hankering for WM1. In the past month I have now added the WM1, the F1 back, and a U2. I actually am one of the few that like the zytel sheaths, and after market leather ones.

Trying to resist A1 purchase cause I don't need it

I love the knife, not crazy about the zytel sheath but it does the job and keeps it at a fair price.

That certainly is true. For the price the zytel does a good job.
The aftermarket leather dangler is also good for 30 Euro if you like leather sheaths.

Have the F1 with leather sheath, and it's a great all purpose knife with an adequate sheath.
It can do the hard yards and is not a flashy, bling kind of tool.

A kydex sheath is a very nice, though not altogether necessary addition.

I own several of the NL's, in fact all but the NL 3 and the Cowry X NL 5.
They are among the best production knives, I can think of.
If You want a nicely built user, go for it!

Took my F1 hunting a while back. My buddy and I skinned a black bear, and I was amazed that the VG-10 stood up just as well as his Carbon V blade. The F1 now lives in my day pack (leather dangler sheath). This is a knife you could rely on anywhere on Earth.

In my humble opinion I believe that the Fallknievens are the best production knives available in the world.

The only gripe I have is that the zytel sheaths are not up to par with the knife itself in terms of both design and quality. While they certainly provide the
smallest footprint possible, the lack of holes or any means of attaching a pouch reduces their usefulness. The leather FK sheaths are fine.

I like them.

Very interesting fix. I myself just wrapped one of my wife's hair ties around it a couple times to increase the retention.

They are made by Ichiro Hattori, considered by many to be the best knifemaker in Seki Japan.

Fallkniven makes some of my favorite production knives. Not really crazy about the Zytel sheaths but they certainly aren't the worst production sheaths I have experienced. Their leather sheaths are pretty good. I don't own a PHK but have often wanted one. I have U2's, WM1's, F1's, H1's, S1 and a A1. I have a F1 3G in my bag today along with a DC4 stone.

If these knives that are owned by a Swedish company, made in japan, and then sold by select American dealers had a warranty to reflect their price I would own several. Granted, they did upgrade their warranty from 2 years to 10 in the last year or so, still limited of course.

It's cool if they don't want to put that they stand behind their product on paper but I can find knives made in a similar place for less money with a better warranty. Heck, even Taylor brands (schrade) stands behind their product more.

Not even to mention the competitive options we have here in the states blow Falk out of the water. I'll take an Esee with a better warranty, better sheath, made & sold here by a company that is based here, and costs about the same or less. Becker is even more competitive.

I know some people that I really respect here love them. I will always give my opinion of them, and it is just that, my opinion. Folks can make their own choice.

Yup I saw a lot of people wrapping bike tubes and whatnot around the sheath to help with retention but I wanted a more permanent fix. I have the PHK with the metal guard so this fix worked great for me with positive enough lock up that I dont even need the strap anymore. I dont know if this fix would work as well with other offerings from them without the metal guard.. but so far so good.

I'm not really worried with a 10 year warranty.
I have an ESEE-4 but really prefer my F1 in all areas except length and factory sheath. The F1 feels less tacticool and with lower profile overall to boot.

This is the sheath, with dangler and clip option, that should arrive this week:

WOW thats a great setup! You have me rethinking my options here .....

I own about 10 Fallkniven's. From a couple A1's, H1 a Barkniven f1 (custom f1 with Bark River handle) and the SK series. Love them! They have a simple elegance to them and are performers. The Vg-10 holds an edge well and if need be, you can strop it back to a razors edge in 60 seconds. My favorite stainless fixed blades.

Some are turned off by their warranty and that's a person's prerogative. I have countless fixed blades and have never used a warrantee on Any of them (folders a different story). I hope to see some more fixed blade options from them in the future.

It's made by Martin Swinkels, he is a real craftsman. This setup is more half the cost of the knife though.
He also makes leather and hybrids and all the bells and whistles you'd want; fire steel loop, pouch, shit loads of mounting options. His leather has quite a waiting time though.
