The ones Bura just "up and did" not too long ago?

They seemed very nice.

Yes. I would be interested too. I'm "||" this close to having Bill order a few in the 14-15 inch range.

I thought I did, but Uncle had to let me know just prior to shipping that it was a prepaid special order from the Sarki Shop. It was supposed to be marked but wasn't. Terry reminded UB when he saw it pop up. You'll have to ask Terry.
IIRC it was made from a 'wood model' Terry had sent.

No field report yet. My buddy made the model and had me send it in.
I have it here and have to sharpen it. The fit and finish are great. It feels nice in the hand and you can choke up on the blade, kinda hold it by the fullers and use it for delicate work.
He wanted to use it as a daily carry hunting, utility, knife.
I'm gonna make a leather sheath for it soon.
Field report coming soon.
God Bless.
Terry

Everyone.

Terry, THAT'S what I thought it would be perfect for!

Suppose this means there won't be a regular flow of 10inchers,huh?

Ah, well.... I can't afford anything, anyway.

Anyone have a link to the original thread or a pic? I've forgotten what it looks like. :(

Thanks DR!!!!:D

I remember now. Doh!!!! ;) There are several features I really, really, Like about this little knife!!!!!!!
I thought that from the first time I saw it, but just didn't comment on it at the time.
I have to give Kudos to the designer! Well Done, Very Well Done!!!!:D

First thing that jumps out at me is the cho is where it's supposed to be instead of 1/4 the way down the blade. I know, I know the regular models aren't really that far, but IMO, among several others, it is way to far down the blade.:barf:
The old khuks had their chos placed just about where this one is and so made more of the blade usable.
The cho is also beautifully shaped and looks almost like it has been cleaned up after forgeing like I do them sometimes.

I also love that blade with its beautiful fullers, that may be a problem with a larger model unless it's modified somehow because if the kamis follow the pattern exactly the blade at the bolster would be really wide and consequently the handle would be grossly oversize as well.
Anyone else have any thoughts about this?

I still think the habaki bolsters are a good idea for western users and serve a good purpose in helping to keep the khuk snug in the scabbard but I've came to prefer the khuks without them such as this one.
As far as I know there hasn't been any trouble with them, but I believe the khuks without the habaki bolsters have a stronger handle area.
Had the bolsters been made so that the flat bottom part of it was over the blade proper instead of part of the tang it would have been a much better design.
The handle material does to some extent protrude into the bolster and when the bolster is the old style like this one that means the end of the handle proper is closer to the blade.

Personally I would like to see a little more flare at the handle butt and done in a standard tang, but since it's not designed to be a heavy chopper I could live with it the way it is.;)

I agree with Dan that in a larger size it would be really killer!:D

That is SOOOOO Sweet:D  If Uncle ever decides to make a special run of those, I AM DEFINATELY IN!!! Maybe for two. HeHe

edited to add.

Has anyone else thought how the Cho could be ground open to creat a nice choil, for use when you wanted to choke up on the blade? It just struck me that this model would work well with a choil there. Now I want a couple of these even more!!;) I can't help myself sometimes.

I think it's all a matter of how the message is passed along. If we tell them "Make a scaled up replica" then we'll get a thicker handle, etc. However, if we tell them "Make a 14 inch version" they'll make whatever handle size fits the knife.

Still, even if the handle was scaled up a bit, it would be a very, very nice knife and quite a beauty.

Uncle said that for a 14 inch version, the cost would be $125. Anybody else interested? If so, we can start a sign-up thread (but no wood model - it will go faster that way).

If Bura makes more of the 10" model, you can put me on the list. It's small, but interesting.

Make no mistake, for me a 14-incher would still be "small" but the trade-off would be a very good looking knife that would swing well and feel good in the hand - for basic all-around camp duties.

We should try to get a run of the 10 inchers going. If that goes well maybe a later order for the 14 inchers. That little 10" version really appeals to me. I hear it calling my name :D  That looks like it would make such a sweet EDC type of fixed blade. I need TWO, one for me and one for my lady.

We've got 3 takers and 1 "iffer" for the 10" version

and 2 takers and 2 iffers for the 14" version.

on the first 10 inch "blem" that arrives. I called it! Everybody heard. I called Dibs!!!
