Thanks DR!!!!
I remember now. Doh!!!!

There are several features I really, really,
Like about this little knife!!!!!!!
I thought that from the first time I saw it, but just didn't comment on it at the time.
I have to give Kudos to the designer! Well Done, Very Well Done!!!!
First thing that jumps out at me is the cho is where it's supposed to be instead of 1/4 the way down the blade. I know, I know the regular models aren't really that far, but IMO, among several others, it is way to far down the blade.:barf:
The old khuks had their chos placed just about where this one is and so made more of the blade usable.
The cho is also beautifully shaped and looks almost like it has been cleaned up after forgeing like I do them sometimes.
I also love that blade with its beautiful fullers, that may be a problem with a larger model unless it's modified somehow because if the kamis follow the pattern exactly the blade at the bolster would be really wide and consequently the handle would be grossly oversize as well.
Anyone else have any thoughts about this?
I still think the habaki bolsters are a good idea for western users and serve a good purpose in helping to keep the khuk snug in the scabbard but I've came to prefer the khuks without them such as this one.
As far as I know there hasn't been any trouble with them, but I believe the khuks without the habaki bolsters have a stronger handle area.
Had the bolsters been made so that the flat bottom part of it was over the blade proper instead of part of the tang it would have been a much better design.
The handle material does to some extent protrude into the bolster and when the bolster is the old style like this one that means the end of the handle proper is closer to the blade.
Personally I would like to see a little more flare at the handle butt and done in a standard tang, but since it's not designed to be a heavy chopper I could live with it the way it is.
I agree with Dan that in a larger size it would be really killer!
