Any flashlight guys?

P.S. The XO I have doesn't look the same as the one on the inova website, maybe they are brighter now?

I've got several surefires, but my favorite (and EDC) is an A2 aviator. It's a dual-mode flashlight with both LED and incadescent available. In LED mode, the batteries last for 20 hours. In incadescent mode, you get 60 minutes but even if there aren't enough batteries left for incadescent, the LED still works.

It really is the best of all possible worlds. Mine has a red LED, btw, which is great for perserving night vision, but really sucks if you want to read a map.

Of course, these things are as pricey as they come ....

I have two Surefire G2s and just bought a G3. Great lights. I also have a Fenix L1T which I carry always. Not a Surefire but its not made to be. It is the best EDC light I have every had. I carry that even when I have my Surefires when I am on duty. Plus the Fenix uses rechargable AA NiMH batteries which is another plus.

I am going to have to agree with magneto on the cableas light.........they also have others that they have oem'd that are great for the price as well.

SureFire, Inova and all the other's mentioned here will serve you well. Being on CPF as well, I have acquired a few custom maglights that did not cost an arm and leg from mirageman and cmacel..........Greatness describes their work. I also have an Electrolumens coming at the end of the month that should put out around 600 lumens..

Qualitychinagoods.com mentioned above mentioned in CFP lead me to find kaidomain.com and dealextreme.com.............both have a surefire u2 clone for next to nothing advertised at 130-135 lumens using the SSC P4 led that gets pretty good reviews. I just have not pulled the trigger to get it yet cause it takes an advertised 7-10 days to show up....... oh well, enough rambling. Let us know what you decide!

Wow, quite a bit there guys, thanks. Dont get me wrong, the only reason I say I was hoping the X0 was around 85 lumens, is because over on candlepowerforums I thought they said the X0 was compared to the T2, and the T2 on Inova's site has 85 lumen, though I cant find anywhere on the net the lumen of the X0.

Also, I want the Inova's becuase I can order them here in canada for great prices, easy to get, and I can get battries from the same guys.

Here are a few reviews that I have been looking over. What I want is to be able to light up someone you know... 100-150 feet away.

So, would it be right to just get the step up? (T3)

go join at candlepowerforums.com and ask them as well; the guys over there really know there stuff.

Another big thumbs up for the fenix lights....

I've got an L1D-CE that is my EDC. The multiple levels of light are awesome, as is the ability to quickly go from lowest power to highest power with a simple twist. This light replaced an L1P which now resides in my Go-Bag. The greatest advantage of the Fenix AA lights IMO is that you can pretty much always find AA batteries. In a home emergency you could probably come up with half a dozen AA's by simply looting your remote controls.

I think the P2D, or even the P3D is more what im looking for from fenix, and I dont mind the 123a's. but where to get one in canada, and how good are they?

I just got a 3w mag light with 2AA battries i went for 3 hour hike at night and i loved it. I also have a 2AA maglight that i installed the nightzied light with 3 LEDs and that thing rocks. Its bright enough for hiking and reading and everything else you might want to do. I see no reason to pay more money for something that might not be much better.

well, the Inova interested me so much because of the range, power, light and durability. For sure they are highly spoken of, But like I said, I wanted a mean little light. Not to say a 2AA maglight isnt, I have one and love it. I just wanted something with a litte more emmph.

Fonly,Sasha has a 3watt LED minimag which runs on aa batteries. You can get lithium aa's for cold weather usage and long term storageThe unit is about 24.00 Canadian at Home depot, they have dcell versions ,too which are definitely worth looking at. Also you can get chinese led conversions for existing minimag but I not that impressed with them. the other thing about mag LEDs is you get focusable beam. I really like my INOVA XO ,but I got a minimag LED on my belt all the time, now

There is no end to how much power you can get from a light. What i found is that i realy dont need to see anything a mile away. The 2AA with the 3w led is great for the outdoors it can reach more then enough even if you dont follow a trail out in the woods. I also stop a deer in the tracks by shining the light in her face (female). The 3led is more then enough for anything within 10 yards. For packpacking i find that the princtontec with 3led and one 1w led is more then enough to last me 2-3 trips cooking reading for a few hours and just walking around at night.
Finder i compered the 3w 2AA mag to the 3D cell mag and they are same in power except the diff in size and the color.

its just, even the L2's high setting is 55 lumens, as the T2 has 85.

Fonly,

I think you're looking at the older L2T, the newer L2D-CE is a 2xAA light with a max output of 135 lumens. The single-AA L1D-CE like I have can output the same 135 lumens in half the form-factor if you run it off a rechargable 16400 cell.

all kinds (brands) really into the LED thing.
just last Christmas my wife bought me a 15,000,000 candle power flashlight for my collection.
it's good not to have close neighbors when you want to try out your flashlights.

i forgot, she bought this flashlight in the heart of outdoor shopping Manhattan.

yeah, thats in turbo mode correct? something around 2 1/2 hours?

What is a suitable Lumen level for wanting to see something 30-40 meters (100-130ft)?

I like the idea of having a powerful light upto 150 ft, something that would iluminate someone that far away. Or is that too much to ask of with a led light of this size in power?

Is a Lumen of 80-90 a good powerful light?
