Any folders with a Busse-like guarantee?

So a Busse knife is basically indestructible....and even if you do manage to destroy your very expensive knife, there are no worries. Busse will repair or replace it no matter what, short of cutting it in half with a torch. Correct?

If you ask me, buying a Busse is a no brainer. The price may be high but it could very well be the last knife you ever need to buy. You are guaranteed a great performing knife FOREVER. You can even give it to your kids and long after your gone they can have the same guarantee, providing Busse is still in operation.

So my question is.....Are there any makers of a folder out there that make the same guarantee? I would love to have a nice, indestructible pocket knife that I know will last forever no matter what I do to it. I want to be able to pry open engine blocks with my pocket knife without fear.

There isn't much if anything at all that I haven't seen Jerry replace. That said, I'd still think that intentional damage to find the breaking point and things of that nature are not gonna be covered. Even still, I think Jerry would replace most anything, because that's the kinda guy he is.

Now, I don't think there are many folders that are gonna pry open an engine block but there are some pretty fine hard use folders with great warranties. Hinderer XM-18's and Strider folders top my list. Chris Reeve's Sebenza is one of the best folders out there, but I wouldn't do any prying or non-knife friendly work with it.

Until Busse finishes the folder, I'll carry one of the couple I mentioned.

+1 to MD13 comments. I dont own a Hinderer, but I carry my mini Seb everyday, my Strider for heavy duty stuff. I wouldn't pry with either of them unless I really had to.

The lock on the Extrema Ratio is pretty substantial and might be what youre looking for. I dont have one.

The knives mentioned will probably chip a little easier so I'd be careful about chopping with it.

I hope whenever Busse puts out its folder its way overbuilt and can do some limited prying, but thats just not what pocket knives are made for!

Good luck!

Also... to add to the list, I have a Severtech (auto) that reminds me of a Busse...

I would only pry with it in a real pinch, but I think it would do the job.:thumbup:

ok....well I have a large Sebenza already so your saying I probably wont find much better than that, huh? Sounds good. I love my sebenza, and while CRK has a good guarantee, it is nowhere near as extraordinary as Busse's. CRK only guarantees the knife to the original purchaser for manufacturer/material defects. I feel like thats a guarantee to be expected from any high quality product. Busse really takes it a step further and I think that is has alot to do with his success. That and of course the indestructible nature of his product.

Is there really a Busse folder in development? I thought that was something along the lines of a mythological creature. Any rumors as to its release?

SwampRat has a folder, and although I don't know what kind of guarantee SwampRat is rolling with, they do seem to have a very Busse like knife design philosophy. (Gee...I wonder why..lol).

I've been wanting to get my hands on one of them and see what it feels like. I kind of have the same reaction to the Crash Axe...it's not Infi...but there isn't an INFI one yet, so I have to find something to make do with.

Two weeks............. :D

Oh man...the requisite "two week" comment. Seeing as you're a Busse neophyte, you should know that to Hogs, "two weeks" is about as vague an answer as "i don't know". Just tryna help you out.:D

HOGS---Don't you think that Jerry knows that there is no way he could design a Folder, that you guys would would destroy in minutes??!!

i have a zero tolerance 301. i love this knife. i have broke two g10 handles, sprung the frame lock falling off a 400 hough, wore out one spring, and many a washer. i call them up they send me my new parts, i put it back together. if you break a blade they want you to send it to them for repair. IF busse were to make a folder they should take a long look at these. i use this thing to cut everything from equipment lines to my steak.

The strongest built folder I have ever seen is my current custom Titanium folder from Ray Rogers.
It has 3/16" titanium slabs and an equally thick S30 V blade, with a 1/2" pivot.
It weighs 12 to 14 ozs depending on blade length.
Ray guarantees his knives as long as he makes them but NOT against abuse and no one else will either !
Here it is beside a Spyderco ATR Titanium to show how massive it is in comparison.
Ray's knife is much stronger than a Sebenza or Strider folder.

I agree, I have two of them and love both! They are assisted flippers and really have some beef. I haven't broke anything on them yet, but feel they will stand up if I do.

Here's the way I like to look at the warranty for the folder. If you are honest with us and you don't intentionally try to break it we will take care of you. If you have trouble with it let us know and we'll take care of you. I wouldn't do any prying with it as S30V is not a steel that has a lot of lateral strength, even lightweight prying can cause damage.

However, as I've stated before the Rat Trap is not the strongest toughest folder on the market, it was designed to be a lightweight reliable EDC, if this is the way you treat it, it will treat you right. It is a great knife that you'll forget you are carrying until you need it, and it won't pull your pants down in the process. If you won't a heavy duty do everything knife I'd suggest a Howling Rat.

Also, we'd strongly suggest that you not take it apart. We don't want a lot of knives coming back to us in pieces because the owner couldn't put it back together properly. ;)

:D:D"

No folder will put up with the abuse that the Busse fixed blades will...ever. Thats probably the only thing stopping Jerry from producing the folder, because there will be some dumbass's who will put the knife what they put the fixed blades through, and they will break, Jerry would be replacing them left and right, and he would be loosing money on them if anything. Just my thought on the Busse folder.

Yeah the Severtech is probably the closest thing to a Busse folder.(tough as nails) Boss Hog even has one. Its my most EDC'ed knife...
