I am having a heck of a time getting my forge up to temp. I was wondering if there is anyone in the Spokane area who wouldn't mind coming by? I would be glad to cook dinner and buy a 6 pack or a bottle of your favorite. This thing has me frustrated.

Howdy Dustin, I live out in the Valley. What kind of forge are you using? I'm not an expert on forges although I have built a few brick pile forges. Now I'm using a NC knifemaker and I love it. Are you just forging blades or are you trying to weld with it?

Thanks guys. Luke, I am just trying to forge at this point. I can get steel pretty darn hot but not to glowing or nonmagnetic. I think I must be doing something wrong with my flame. I hope to drive over and see Bruce and Nick at some point but was hoping to get someone to look at my forge so I don't have to pack it somewhere else. If you want to swing by and talk shop/give your opinion I will shoot you an email. Thanks again.

Dustin
Give me your phone number and I'll give you a call to see if I can help you. I'm in Greenacres. Maybe we can work through it without driving out there.

Dustin,
Can you post any pictures of your set up? We might be able to help that way. If you can give us a description from propane tank to forge body it might help.

I would like to thank you guys for the help. Alden had me bring it over to his shop and we got it running. The problem was my propane tank so I am off to get a real one. Alden has a great shop and was a great host. I will have to get him to post sics of his coote set up. Man is it cool. Thanks again Alden.

Luke I tried to send ou an email but it got bounced back my our mail. Thanks for the offer and even though m forge is running now we can still meet up and talk shop or pound some steel.

You're welcome Dustin. I'm glad I was able to help you. For the information of others, the problem was Dustin was using a bbq type propane cylinder. These cylinders now have the overfill protection valve which prevents a high enough rate of withdrawal to fuel a forge or a weed burner. The larger cylinders do not have that valve. We hooked his forge to my 100 lb.er and it worked well.
Good Luck on your steel pounding Dustin.
See Ya
Alden
