Any G-Shock fans out there?

looks like "“Extra-Thin” GA-2100 Carbon Core Guard"
can't link.. Here's mine slightly thicker than my tag auto but i liked it wasn't as clunky looking in the sides as others

That's a nice looking watch, but probably more than I want to spend for something to use while in the woods or puttering around in my shop. Probably looking in the $3-400 range.

Are there any G-shocks that have a width of 40-44mm and aren't quite so thick?
These are G-Shock’s we are talking about, “thick” should be in the name...;)

I would go with the G-Shock DW5600E-1 if you want thin/small. There aren’t really that many options on it, but it’s the necessary basics - you can’t go wrong with it.

I’m considering getting the Rangeman or the GGB100 (Mudman). The GGB100 seems more like a smart watch than anything. (I mean - Bluetooth? Only 2 year battery? o_O)

The Rangeman is tight. Time is always accurate due to radio signal parring, triple sensor, mud resistant, etc.

Here she is: https://www.gshock.com/watches/master-of-g/gw9400-1b

I’m not really a fan of dual time either, and the GGB100 has it. :/

I can’t stand digital watches, and never considered a G-Shock because of it. Same with an Apple Watch, other smart watch, or a FitBit, etc. I just like wearing an old school, analog watch.

But...
I’ve been strongly considering a G-Shock in the last few years. Never realized until recently that you could get analog dials on one, plus I like all the various functionality you can get in them. Used to have a FitBit, but couldn’t wear it with a watch, but I think a G might be able to bridge that gap for me.

So what would you guys recommend in one? I’d want hour/minute hands, and some sort of fitness tracking - steps counter, heart rate, etc. Syncing with a phone would be nice, but not a must have, and same goes for GPS. Primarily I’d be using it for knocking around in the woods, long hikes, workouts, or anytime else I don’t want to chance beating up one of my nicer watches.
I have the perfect one for you: https://www.gshock.com/watches/master-of-g/ggb100-1b (although it doesn’t have heart rate monitor, but it does have step counter)

It does have a ton of other functions:

  • Module: 5594
  • Size of case: 55.4×53.1×19.3mm
  • Total weight: 92g
  • Shock Resistant
  • Mud Resistant
  • Carbon Core Guard structure
  • Mineral Glass
  • Spherical Glass
  • Neobrite
It does pair to your phone as well. (Check out some videos on YouTube - they are very nice...)

I love g shocks. I have 3 at the moment. My first I got for Xmas 5 yrs ago and its my dedicated work watch. It was the $40 cheap-o on Amazon that was pretty basic. I like it so much a few years later I was on the hunt for a nicer g shock with more capabilities. I bought 2 more, each one on my birthday in consecutive years. I grabbed the range man first then the following year I snagged the big boy--gwg-1000 mud master!

Both the Rangeman and Mudman (GWG1000) are nice.

I’m going to be getting the Rangeman (GW9400-1) as soon as I have enough money. The features are amazing and will definitely outperform my G350.

It was a tough decision between the GGB100 and the GW9400, but eventually it came down to this (the Rangeman winning)

  • Solar powered. (The GGB100 only has a 2 year battery life)
  • Doesn’t have Bluetooth. (Some people may see this as a disadvantage; I don’t. I’m getting a G-Shock for crying out loud, not a smart watch)
  • Doesn’t have dual time. (I don’t like it. At 11-1 the hands are blocking the digital time)
  • Has a light display. (The only option for any variant of the GGB100 is a dark display, which is incredibly hard to read especially since it has dual time)
Anyway, that as they say is that.:thumbsup:

I've been running the Rangeman GPRB1000-1 pretty much daily since it was launched. Its a BIG watch, but has held up great. The GPS "cookie" system is a bit clunky to use, but does a great job for what it was designed for.

That is considered one of the best. It is absolutely HUGE though.

Funny thing is I'm not a big guy either and I also wear a fitbit on my RH so I get tagged with all sorts of jokes.

Watch is top notch though and I've used some of the A/B/C features in the field. My only real complaint is the app is kinda wonky. Will be very interesting to see the "Gen 2" versions when they start coming out and pushing the bar for the entire industry.
