Any good American-made, sub-$50 EDC you recommend?

I had another thought regarding Buck lockbacks. If you search Google for "Buck web specials" you'll find various lightweight versions of the venerable Buck 110 and 112 for cheap enough that you can get a case of good beer with the rest of your $50. Specifically, a BuckLite or BuckLite III for $18, or the PaperStone 112 Ranger for $20. Buck does make some knives overseas these days, but these models are all made at Buck HQ in Idaho.

Also, there are some great Case Mini Copperlocks in your price range, and a few of the larger Copperlocks for just a bit more.

I went with the Buck squire for an EDC. I will likely pick up a paperstone 112 in the future; it has some good earmarks to it.

Hey, MNblade, is that a Totin'chip patch by your moniker?

Todd, what are you doing that your 'cheap Barlow' is closing on you? I've misused a lot of pocket knives (and doing really dumb stuff) & I never had one even come close to closing on me? f.y.i. - I think you made an excellent choice with the Buck.

I think it was trying to open a box quickly, moving it around a bit. I like the squire knife a lot; really fits the bill and I'm up for recommending it to just about anybody who'll listen!
