I've been wanting a knife with a BG42 blade for awhile now.I mostly like framelocks, backlocks & axis-locks...with the first being my favorite.
Preferably a 3"-4" plain edge blade.

NO LINERLOCKS PLEASE

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Too bad you aren't looking for nice fixed blades....I would direct you to the Rosarms forum.

Buck Customs Shop should be able to fix you up. Choose your options as far as bolsters, grips, etc.

I may just do that. The 110 is missing from my collection. It's a classic;)

Any other suggestions would be appreciated:)

The BG-42 isn't offered in black oxide. I would definitely recommend the BG-42 though. Holds a great edge that touches up easily.

What's good about BG-42? What is it comparable to in terms of edge retention, stain resistance, etc.?

To me, it has near the ease of sharpening of VG10, while it has almost the edgeholding of S30V. It, IMO, takes a better edge than S30V.

The Buck Custom shop BG42 heat treated by Bos is particularly nice. I put one together there in BG42 for less than $90. It's a fantistic thing. Every knife fanatic should treat themselves at least once to one custom made the way they want it. Joe

Another vote for the Buck Custom 110 in BG42. I have a couple and need some more...

Nothing against Buck 110's at all.I lovem',but any other suggestions?

A little googling gave me this link description

SOG Specialty Knives is dedicated to creating the highest standards of ... The small model has an AUS8 Stainless blade and the full size has a BG42 blade. ...

It had a link to Knifecenter's SOG page. So apparently, SOG makes a blade in BG-42, but I don't know which one. And I don't know if it's folding or fixed.

That's the SOG X-42. It's a fixed blade.

There is a folder version of the mini X-42,but it's a tanto(I don't care for tantos)

Thanx,
