So are there any recommendations for a good gentleman's folder? I was thinking of something pretty, like what you would give to your boss if he started showing interest in your knives. Only real requirements are that it must have a 3 inch blade or less and no AO.

A Tidioute Barlow?

If your boss can give you a bonus or raise with more than 4 digits I would go with William Henry

A budget choice is the Kershaw Sapphire for about $60-$70. Bright blue Ti scales and a nice satin blade of AUS-8. Thumbstud and liner lock. All designed by Ken Onion. I own one myself.

Depends on whether you want a more traditional style (slipjoint/lockback) or something more "tactical". I have a Paul Protector with 3D carbon scales - considered to be a "gentleman's tactical" - really love this knife - no longer made but the Paul Defender won "overall knife of they year" at this year's Blade although the Paul Executive is also worth considering.

I would recommend a knife with a more traditional look. The Fällkniven TK3 for example, a bit expensive, but in my opinion a nice gentleman's knife. A Buck 112 Ranger would also be a good choice or perhaps a SAK with wooden handles or with coloured alox handles. Some folders of Spanish or Italian design are also nice, take also a look at some of the knife reviews of Dagon for examples on these.

Edit: the French Laguiole knives are also very nice looking gentleman's knives, in my opion.

If you can still find one, the Kershaw 1993-2 'Gentleman's Folder' is a great example of it's name sake. A bit more reasonable - and they were ~$25 from WallyWorld - the Buck #503 'Prince'.

Stainz

The Spyderco kopa is quite a "genty" knife, if you wan to drop the coin for something real
nice the the CRK Mnandi or small Seb would be a good choice, maybe a William Henry also.

I would get a Mnandi. Or like has been suggested, there some excellent slip joints. I also suggest that you look at William Henry knives as well.
