I am looking for a way to do a scandi grind on a vertical running belt. Do you guys have any good tutorials or jigs that you use. Thanks in Advance.

I've made a bunch of tool rests for doing scandi and besh wedge grinds (and whatever else). I use 1/8" x 2" mild steel that I buy at the hardware store. It is very easy to work with, but thicker, less flexible steel would be better. To make them, I cut a piece 3-6" long, clamp about 1" in my vice and use a hammer to bend the other end until it looks like what I want. Then I put the short end flat against the 90º tool rest of my grinder and slide it into the belt. When it comes to a point, I measure the cut face and use trigonometry to calculate the grind angle. I can adjust it up or down from here if I didn't get the angle that I want. I write the grind angle on the back with sharpie (engraving would be better).
To use them, I clamp them to my 90º tool rest with small c-clamps. I scribe the center of the edge as usual. To grind, I lay them flat on the tool rest and press them into the belt, making sure I'm not pushing too hard directly into the tool rest or else I will bend it and change the angle.

Here is the one I use for scandi grinds (12.5º) clamped to my grinder:

Here are all of my tool rests stacked together (I think I've actually made more since this picture was taken):

Some knives I've made with these:

I am always meaning to get my tool rest actually installed on my grinder and make some of the above jigs to use. I just have never gotten around to it. I started using the bubblejig and now just primarily do it free hand. Ill still use the bubblejig if I have not ground anything in a while.
