Any guesses ?

Cody Lundin said on Facebook that the new guy was ex-military and a ' real warrior ', I'm thinking Mykel Hawke.

Not Mykel Hawk....He just announced on his FaceBook Page that it's not him & that He & Dave are working together on their own show !!!!

I don't care for Cody Lundin. After reading his book "98.6 Degrees: The Art of Keeping Your Ass Alive " and watching him interact with Dave Canterbury I just can't take his flippant attitude. Personally I would like to see Mykel Hawke team up with Dave Canterbury. Two serious pros who have the potential for a great viewer learning experience.

I've watched all of the episodes of MWW that I could find on youtube, and I've almost finished DS - one episode left to go IIRC. I thought MWW was much better on several levels then DS, and I really liked DS. I think the Hawkes (Ruth will have to do guesty or two) on DS will really rock.

Please don't watch pirated videos on YouTube. Discovery pulls them down as fast as they can find them.

Whats the deal on Dave not actually being military and there being bad blood between him and Cody?

This deserves to be seen by everyone interested, not just those directly asking for a PM. I'm sorry if we aren't supposed to post links(apology accepted), but I think everyone should see this.

Hey scouter27,

Nice to make your acquaintance. Not to put too fine a point on it, but
1) This is called thread-jacking. Please do not thread-jack.
2) Mommy, how did you finally track me down after all of these years? :p

A more detailed update from Cody's facebook page.

HI Campers!
Just back from shooting another episode of Dual Survival. Below are answers to some questions people have been asking.

When will season three of Dual Survival air? I don't know, but rumors are early winter. I'll keep everyone posted.

How many shows will be in season three? 13.

Who is your new partner? Discovery will announce him as they see fit, however, it is a person who has not been on TV before. He has a pedigree in Special Operations, (20 years) and is an expert in unconventional warfare. Discovery has vetted him, I have vetted him, and I have looked through his credentials, a folder one inch thick with diplomas, awards, schools, etc.... bad Mo Fo who has done great service for our country.

Bottom line, probably not someone we know.

Well, they certainly suck at searching YT for videos. The same ones have be up for years with views in the millions. Something tells me Discovery is not threatened. YT administration is quick to nab copyright infringements as well. It won't stay up long if it is illegal.

This deserves to be seen by everyone interested, not just those directly asking for a PM.
Everyone is welcome to search the web... three typed words found me all I needed to see on the subject. We frown upon cross-forum links for the most part.... not matter how much we happen to agree with the subject.:)

Latest statement from Cody~

As has already been publicly confirmed, Dave Canterbury is no longer a part of Dual Survival. This fact has been true since September of 2011.

I have faced many questions regarding this change and much has been said on the internet as well. Any inquiries regarding this matter should be directed to Discovery Channel. However, since I have no doubt that the questions will continue, and I have an ethical and professional responsibility to do so, I am making the following statement.

The goal of the survival instructor is to keep people alive. To accomplish this goal, honesty, integrity, trust and competence must come first. These core values cannot be compromised or people’s lives are needlessly put at risk. In a profession where human lives are at stake, dishonesty about ones background and experience is an inexcusable breach of trust.

I have dedicated my life to this profession. It is my passion and livelihood and I have spent the past 23 years developing expertise in it. I hold the responsibility of being a survival skills instructor as sacred. It is incumbent upon all of us in this field to insist that the highest standards of honesty, integrity and honor are maintained at all times.

For all of the aforementioned reasons, I am proud to work with my new Dual Survival partner as we take the show to even greater levels. This is my final statement on the matter at this time. To my fans and to those who have offered support during this very challenging time, I offer my greatest gratitude and thanks.

Sounds like the show will be much improved. Even though I enjoyed the first two seasons, I'm really looking forward to the third

Hopefully someone who didn't outright lie about their military background like Canterbury did.

What about his military service did he lie about?

EDIT: I just did a search engine search. If everything that I found is true then I just lost a lot of respect for Dave Canterbury.

Looks like the daggers are out!

I never had a whole lot of respect for Cody as an individual, but this is truly a low blow and only goes to show what a fragile ego he must have. Dave made Cody look like a little girl in both the scripted and non-scripted parts of the show. Cody shows how brave he is once Dave is down and out, probably with some help from him regarding the exit.

I often see folks ask the hypothetical question of who you'd rather be out there with, Dave or Cody. Yes, Dave is a risk taker and yes, Cody is more skilled. But I can't see myself lasting an entire day with Cody's huge ego and passive aggressive style. I'd take my chances with any real person over that bundle of joy, who btw lives alone in a cave-house with no woman!

The only problem is Dave is not a "real" person. If you've already made your mind up on Cody(BTW, the ad hominem gay reference was nice:rolleyes:), of course you will see the bad in his statement. I don't at all... but perhaps I've made my mind up too.:p I have followed Dave since his first handful of videos on youtube and see things quite the opposite. From the start he has rode the coattails of honest men, blatently claimed their intellectual property as his own, gave no credit to folks who've directly forwarded his career and has lied about his military history... how many strikes are people given before they are called out, again? Bear Grylls is on sturdier ground, if you ask me.

Personally, I like intstructors to have a bit of an ego or "air of confidence"... whether it is on public display or kept to themselves. I believe it is as necessary for them as it is for military operators. Dave at least has THAT... But even the most cocky bull is only as strong as the ground under its hooves and Dave is standing on a foundation of shale.

If I was going to be taught how to survive on my own in the wilderness, it would be by someone who lived in a cave.... as opposed to someone who camps in a yurt and washes his dishes in the bucket he craps in.

Mykel Hawke has his own show that will be on the Outdoor Channel. It is being sponsored by Smoky Mountain Knife Works (SMKW). He was at the Blade Show hangin around the SMKW booth area. I didn't know anything about Canterbury perhaps participating on the same show. Yes, I spoke with Hawke there, but not about the new show.
