I was just curious to see if any of you guys have built your own firearms.
Not black powder...I'm talking 1919a4, AK, FAL,Sten, MG42...semi-autos etc. from de-milled parts sets.
I've got a Yugo M53 set I'm looking to get rid of if anyone is interested.

i want a FAL or CETME, but have been worried about the quality of the end product. i have 8 or nine mausers in the basement in various stages of completion and a 1954 (?) mod 70.

do you build FAL rifles? man, i want one, but just not knowledgeable enough to buy a kit.

there is a pawn shop by my house that has a old DB shotgun with a damascus barral. looks very fine :)

I build and own fnFAL's ,AK's AR's,, and believe every man should bare arms to the full extent of the law. As far as the M53, you could post on some of the many boards, FAL files is where I would post it.

724wd, join the FAL files.com and learn about the best main battle rifle ever made, some kits are still available and we Faler's here in Oregon extend our hand to wash. guys to come to our shoot in june, we also have build parties, FAL and AK's mainly. PM me if interested, and I will help.

Hmmmmm.............a fine rifle indeed, but the best? You might get some arguments from fans of such weapons as the M1 and the SMLE:D

I want an FAL badly. I keep looking at parts kits and may take the plunge once our move is complete and I have a workshop again.

I tell ya...if you ever wanted to buy a kit and put it off, now is the time to get them before its too late. The prices have been going up on many of them and they are not importing any kits with barrels any more.

I like the old WWII stuff...right now I'm looking for parts for a 1903 that had been sporterized.

Hey Mace......if you want a truly fine old military bolt action to use as the basis for a sporter, see if you can find a 1909 Argentine Mauser. They were built by DWM before WW1 and are supposed to be among the best of the Mausers ever built. Back in the early '90's they cleared out a warehouse....or four... of examples that had never even been unpacked and sold them in the US. You shouldn't have a hard time finding one. I still have one in it's unaltered form and it has a beautiful action. The ioonly reason I haven't built a custom gun from it is thatshortly after I bought it, the new Winchester Model 70 Classic Super Grade came out and I bought one of those.

I've been messin with guns for a lota years,
but have had more fun lately building and shooting Ruger 10/22s.
Much fun!!!

Hey Don. I know that folks have been hotrodding the 10-22 for a while. To your knowlege has anyone ever given the Ruger .44 Mag rifle the same treatment?

Joe, I have not heard of anyone hotrodding the .44. They are kind of rare and not being made any longer. I almost bought one a while back but decided to save my pennies for the 10/22s I'm working on. It's amazing how accurate these Rugers can be with just a little work. Cheap to shoot too :)

Actually, I looked them up and they are making one again, but the new one has a short version the "open top" Mini-14 type action as poosed to a blown up version of the "closed top' 10-22 action. Might make for some fun. Unfortunately, you have to use jacketed bullets so that precludes using it as a nasty little "brush gun" with the hot Garrett or Buffalo Bore 320-340 grain hard cast rounds.

Sounds like a handy little gun, I'll have to take a look. I have always liked the .44 mag round and the Mini-14 or M-1 action is bullet prof.

I have a Russian sks which is kinda fun to play with.
Also have one built STG-58 FN-FAL which is a blast to shoot.I also have Imbel parts kit and another STG-58 parts kit sitting in the closet waiting on receivers and U.S. parts.Gotta go ahaed and get these built cause receivers and U.S. parts are getting pricey.:(
Anyone know if Dan Coonan is still making receivers for the Fal's?

Hey Joe....I'm not looking to sport out a gun....I'm looking to put it back to its original glory. We ave been doing military bolt gun shoots at our club and I've been using a buddys "03"...time to get mine going so I can beat him.;)

Don, he 10/22's are cool guns...have you done a gatling yet?
Mace

The only Coonan receivers I have seen are Old stock. Century and Entreprise uppers are readily available.
