Hey all,

I am going to pick up a couple of the MORA knives and check them out. I also want to make a knife, I've always wanted to try it. One of the other knives I have heard a LOT about is the HELLE. In thinking about what I want and would like to do, it hit me, why not build one of the HELLE knives? I could save money, learn a bit about the process and have a nice knife at the conclusion. The problem is that I have never done anything like that.

I have seen pics of knives that other TRAD BOW hunters have assembled for themselves and they turned out great. Before I start something like that I would need to find a tutorial or other help to show me generally what to do and how best to finish a HELLE.

So if you all know where I can find such help or a tutorial, please let me know. I am anxious to try this project. If you can help me, and wouldn't mind giving of your time for a bit, let me know. A video would also be great if you know of one.

Thanks for your time and help.

I'm not sure what style you want to build?
Helle is a knife brand, and they make several types of knives. Many people refer to the laminated blade as a Helle blade. The basic Nordic hunting blade ( Puuko) is the most common shape.
If that is what you want, you can purchase the blade blank from several knife suppliers, and make the knife by adding a handle and doing the finish work. It is a simple and quite doable starter project.

Her is where you can get Helle blades:

Here's a knife kit that might work:

Here are some tutorials on doing the handles:

Hope this helps.
