Any HOGanzaaa dings yet?

What I like about the DS8 is that although it is of course blade-heavy, it's really not much more blade-heavy than the DS. I'd estimate the balance point in the DS8 to be only around 3/8" further forward.

Means that it still feels acceptably nimble in the hand, but the forward weight would assist a little with chopping.
 
Brummie, out of curiosity, what length is the blade of your DS8? Got mine today and it measures out to 7 3/4 inches. It sounds silly but I was a little disappointed about that half an inch because I was expecting it to be 8.25 inches. It does feel good in the hand though. The choil is on point too. The one issue I had with my basic 8CG is that the choil just didn't fit me. But the DS8 choil feels awesome!

I didn't measure carefully, but I thought it was 8", as opposed to 6.25" on the DS. It is about 0.25" shorter than the B8 blade.

And I know what you mean about the choil on that - sometimes the talon hole really gets in the way on Busse knives. I prefer no choil or small choil on Busse knives (you can grind out the talon hole on the latter to form a full size choil).
 
Got my shipping notice today. Went ahead and had them send it to Josh for one of his awesome sharpening jobs.
 
They must've loaded down the UPS truck today. Got my confirmation as well. Should have mine in hand Wed 11/8.

They arrived! The Patriotic Bunker Buster is what I expected; the DS8 is really a DS7 3/4" with a not very sharp point.o_O
 
What's interesting is the Dog Soldier's handle is a little bigger than the DS8's.
The DS8 is more than adequate, but the Dog Soldier feels nicer in my hand.
511, DS8, and Dog Soldier lined up.

EDIT: OK, bad perspective. The handles ARE the same size. Stand them on end and the lanyard holes line up perfectly, as does the rest of the handles.
