I'm a native San Franciscan.
Alfred's Steakhouse has been open for 70 years. I've actually never eaten there. But I hear good things. http://www.alfredssteakhouse.com/ I always go to Ruth's Chris. I know, they're a chain. But a darn good chain.
For Italian, go to Rose Pistola and get Ligurian cuisine. Look, you can get Veal Parmagiana anywhere. Go to Rose Pistola and you'll find menu items like roasted whole fish, rabbit, zucchini chips, calamari stew. Walk North Beach afterwards. The weekend evening scene at North Beach is very fun. You can also catch Beach Blanket Babylon.

I confess, I eat at House of Nanking's. I like them. It's good and cheap. Fun because it's friendly and touristy....but it's not authentic Chinese food. I know cus I'm Chinese. Try the Chicken in Tsing Tao Beer Sauce. They will probably just tell you what you are going to eat instead of letting you order...it's part of the restaurant's appeal.
