Recently I ordered 2 bulldog brindle bone baby trappers for 9$ each ( for me and my dad ) and the one I got today has a warped clip blade ( other than that it's razor sharp, has zero play, has a strong back spring, and a great halfstop ) and my dads has a very tiny bit of play in the sort blade. So I don't want to return it and potentially get a major lemon. It really is a beautiful little knife and ( other than the warped blade ) someone would probably think it costed 40$+ if you showed it to them. So do you guys know how I could straighten a blade that likely warped during heat treatment ? ( currently I have it clamped with a few little pieces of wood ( bending it in the opposite direction ) but I don't know if it will work or how long I might have to leave it clamped for to fix it if possible. ( I also have an old old timer 33OT with a bent sheep's foot I'd like to fix , so at the least fixing the bulldog would be good practice ) any help would be appreciated:thumbup:

What you're doing should work, but you might have to bend the middle of the warp slightly past the "straight" or center point for it to set where you want it. The metal will spring back a little bit.
You should not have to leave it clamped long. I used a vise to straighten a bent/warped fixed blade years ago. Tightened it in the vise, loosend it, and it was fixed. Took all of 5 or so seconds.

If the bend is "set" by the heat treatment then it's never going away. You will likely snap the blade before it bends.

You might get lucky and the steel has a really soft HT which would allow some bending without breakage. You have a 50/50 chance though, it will either bend or break.

Well never mind guys I fixed it, what I did was superglue 2 little pieces to a small block of wood ( taller pieces of wood than I was using ) placed a piece of leather over it and carefully compressed it with some vise grips. And all it took was a few progressive squeezings to get it straightened out. Overall I'm really impressed with the fit and finish of the knife and I think it was well worth the sub 10$ price. ( and it should make a great little sheeple edc knife that I could afford to potentially lose ). Here's a picture

Wow that does look well beyond 9 bucks, what brand is it?
Connor

It's a bulldog brand ( a once great German company bought by Jim frost ) some of their products may still be German made ( as I've seen some products listed as such on a few sites ) I like how it has the crimped bolsters and copperhead style front bolster.
