Any Idea on this hardness tester

rocketmann, thanks for the link. I do not know anything about the one you are asking about, but it sure looks cool. I wonder if it really works all that good/great lol. I am wanting to get a rockwell hardness tester also. I was looking at the one that Grizzly Ind. has. It is 195 pounds and just onder a $1000 with shipping charges.
I look forward to seeing if anyone answers your question about this.

Most testers like these don't work on steel as thin as knives. I couldn't find info on the link you provided, so you might want to check on this model what it's minimum thickness is before buying.

8 foot pounds impact I do not believe that a knife blade has enough inertia on its own, you would have to have a somewhat massive support for repeatability, it does have the advantage of not being dependant on parallel flats if I read the specs correctly.

I would ask them about testing blade and hawk profiles

I will have to contact them about doing blades. I started looking at hardness testers after the testing that Rick did with his oven. It made me think about what I could be doing better.

Louis,
I have used a similar unit. The key as Page said is the support it must be heavy and free of motion. These units are really designed for large pieces, the parts I have used them on are 6 1/2' long and 36" diameter. Imagine heat treating that

Hi all,
Does anyone have the Grizzly Model by chance and if you what do you think of it? for the average guy is this as good as it will get or if you spent another $500 or even a $1000 more would that really make that much difference?
