Hello friends,
I'm brand new to the sight, but I've LOVED KNIVES my entire life.
I happened to buy a lil Smith & Wesson tanto @ the PX.
The price was right,& its a nice lil knife.....However,there are zero serrations.
I prefer a blade with about a 3rd serrated.
Is there anyplace that can modify the blade?? Is it even practical, cost wise??
thanks....

Hi and welcome to Blade Forums.

I honestly don't think it would be cost effective to have the blade modified. I don't know what you paid but the prices at he PX were pretty reasonable if I recall.

Better to use and keep as is and if you find it's not to your liking or suits your needs then go back and see if they have one with serrations or more to your liking. Or check on-line at one of the many dealers here on BFC and I'm sure you'll find something in your price range that you like.

Best of luck and again, welcome aboard!

As far as serrating the blade, it might cost you more than the knife set you back. I'd recommend a Kershaw Blur combo edge, they run about $50. Te quality, warranty, and materials is miles better than the SW.

All it needed to serrate any blade is the correct size file, a good stout vice , and a LOT of patients.

Lets see if you can get an estimate on this. With shipping back and forth and paying for the work, it might not be worth it, but it can't hurt to ask.

I'm going to move this to Wanted: Knifemaker / Craftsman / Related Services.
