Any interest in a short run of grinder radius platens?

Yes, I'll take a trade in knives. Any Loveless knives you have, I'd be happy to trade.

Lead time will probably be a few weeks. The response has been larger than I anticipated, so I'm getting quotes on more material.

I'm hoping to keep this simple (looks like two diameters with bolt hole patterns for KMG and Badger) in order to keep lead time to a minimum.

I got a decent discount on the material. My first inclination was to put it in my pocket. My second inclination was to lower my price. But I think the right thing to do is give it to Spark. He provides this forum and asks little in return. Due to the unexpected size of this run, it isn't a trivial amount of commerce. And Spark is entitled to a piece of it.

Nathan I'm very interested , but I only have a lowly grizzly,not sure on center to center but I'll confirm before an order is placed for a 48" . And,thanks this would be great,unfinished will be fine.
 
It sounds to me like most folks want the KMG mount and I need to make both 36" and 48". No problem. :thumbup:

There are also a few requests for Badger. If anyone is wanting a hole pattern for the badger grinder, I need to know what that is. Otherwise these are going to be just 1/4-20 on 6 3/4" center to center for KMG.

Nathan I would like a 48 if it is not too late to get one. I never read if they were going to be hardened or not I am assuming they will be. I have burr king grinders but can make some kind of adapter plate.

Yeah, they'll be hardened A2. It isn't too late, I haven't even made them yet.

I have a bar of A2, so I'm going to go ahead and get started. I have more on order, probably enough for about 2 dozen in total which sounds like enough for everyone.

I'll start a sale thread when it is time.

I've been wanting something like this for a while but haven't had time to make my own. What are the chances of getting a 6' for the KMG? No, I'm not kidding:D Been wanting to try a few traditional sheffield type bowies.
 
Now that we have plattens ordered. I was thinking some hand sanding blocks in steel or micarta might be nice to have as well.
 
im getto i already have a block of wood that i shaped and put a thin strip of leather on so i can hand sand too :)

or you could just take the platten off and try that
