As the title states; if there is enough interest, I'd be willing to create, curate, and maintain such a thread (or sticky!) that we could all contribute to, participate in, and/or share our knife care, maintenance, and tinkering knowledge with our fellow sharks.

I'm thinking topics along the lines of: recommended supplies / tools, sharpening, DIY spa service, handle / scale maintenance, EDC preventative care, sheath maintenance, etc. Post requirements would be minimal (ie. Post a detailed description of your maintenance / care topic and pics / video where applicable), and it would be a great way to empower new forum members with some solid DIY knowledge to better maintain their fiddlebacks !

I personally have a lot of fun maintaining my edged tools, and have learned a lot about both knives and knife making from doing so; hopefully others might enjoy such information as well!

Thoughts, comments, questions, and otherwise are always welcome... And, as always, this thread would be useless without a pic ;)

This is a great idea for a new sticky. I would love to hear and see what others are doing to maintain their blades and scales. Have to wade through a lot of bad ideas on the net to find the good tips and tricks.

I'm reminded of the BRKCA (Bark River Collector's Assocation). We are a big enough crew now to support an analogous style of operation here on bladeforums, or even have a secondary web home as an educational supplement.

I'm definitely interested. There is a huge knowledge base here and can't wait to see what comes out. I've already learned more from this forum than I have anywhere else. Great idea Will.

Great idea. I'll read it. Probably have some questions. Make it a sticky so it's easy to find.

Thanks guys, I keep trying to post a lengthier reply by BF is intermittently blocking my ISP's IP range right now, looks like the forum might be experiencing a DDoS attack. Anyways, I appreciate the feedback already and look forward to maybe getting such a thread going

I think it's a good idea especially now since spa costs $50 plus shipping. It's a good idea as long as the people chiming in give the appropriate warnings and disclosures regarding warranty and at worst results.

Couldn't agree more Duder!!

Your at home spa posts have always been great with no surprises btw. This could be a very beneficial/advantageous idea. Especially for our friends across the pond or outside the USA.

Sounds great. I love to hear how other folks sharpen and maintain their knives.

I think it'd be awesome Will. I too would love to see how other folks are doing things and would be willing to share what I do for what it's worth.

I'm in...
Also interested in storage, since I've got no real system

I like it, there is always something to learn! This will definitely beneficial since the international shipping hassle is enough of a deterrent to me to not ship mine back and forth unnecessarily.

Bump for Will

Would love to see more info, why this forum and Andy and the Crew are so good, always willing to teach!

Hey all, I'll try to get the post started this weekend; will probably be covering topics in the following order -- if I miss something or by one would like additional topics covered, let me know!

Topics:

- recommended / required supplies
- cleaning up your 01 blades
- handle scale maintenance
- sharpening & edge maintenance
- diy fixes, personalization, tinkering, an other requested topics (content TBD)

Again, look for something Saturday or Sunday ;)
