I think I might be "surprised" with a sog tech Bowie for dad day. Always wanted one of those since I handled one many years ago at bass pro but found one on the interwebs😁 however the screw on pommel looks weak. Any issues loosening of the pommels etc?

SOG S1 and S2 used to have a pommel nut when they were made in Seki Japan.
They switched to the current slotted version in 2006/2007 when they went
to Taiwan manufacture. But I've never heard of any strength issues.

Didn't know they changed design the tech Bowie I'm looking at is used and I don't think the photo on website is the actual knife but the knife does have the newer style sog logo on it. I'll call them and see what version it is. Thanks so much for the info.

There is nothing to check up on. The SOG Tech Bowie is a model that was introduced when they went to Taiwan manufacture. In other words, there was no Tech Bowie with a pommel nut.
The SOG tech Bowie pommel looks like this, As do the other currebt SOG models.
