I'm stuck in Scottsdale for a little bit, but have nothing on tap for today. Any suggestions of cool knife-related stuff to check out here in the valley? I'm jonesing for shop time and need a knife fix...

You might check out Hiltary Industries. It's a combo knife/supplies outfit owned by Elliot Glasser. Elliot is a real pirate, so bear that in mind when you go in and you'll get along just fine.

There are a ton of makers in the general Phoenix area. Dan Zvonek and Mike Mooney come to mind. You could give one of them a buzz and see if you can finagle an invite to their shop. Dan: 623-465-2727. Mike: 480-244-7768.

Call D'Alton Holder in the Phoenix area. He can tell you where the shops are. He's in the knives annuals(and probably the phone book) and is easy to talk to.

Thanks cor the suggestions folks. I completely forgot that D'Holder is out this way. I think Im' going to manage to get together and chat with Ray Rybar this week, so that should be a good time. If I trip over some more free time (not too likely, I just found out I've been invited to a few business dinners this week) I'll definitely call D'Alton. I'd love to meet him.
