Any knifemakers in the St. Louis area?

None that I've noticed. I think there are a couple in the southern part of the state maybe near Branson. I'm just a wannabe lurker for the last 4 yrs or so. I might be getting started soon, but as yet all I done is build most of a KMG clone and study what these guys have to say.
 
How about Evan Allred -St. Charles, Antonio Betancourt- St. Louis,Al Dippold, Perryville, Jim Harrison- St. Louis,Todd Kinnikin- House Springs,Hank Knickmeyer- Cedar Hill, are just a few in the immediate area.
 
Next time you find yourself near a book store, check out the Knives annuals. They list makers by state, etc. I think Craig Camerer isn't too far away, in Illinois, Phil Detmer is also in the Metro area, and several others I'm surely forgetting in addition to those mentioned.

Also, there is usually a knife show held near the end of January in the Carpenter's Union Hall along Hampton Avenue (same exit as the zoo, between the interstates). I guess that means it's coming up real soon, but I was unable to find any further info so far. That would be a really great chance to meet lots of guys and drool over some blades.

Any way to get in touch with knifemakers in the STL area? I tried searching the names you listed but having no luck. Im interested in learning the trade, and would like to see if any bladesmiths in the area need help around the shop. I think that would be more effective than trying to learn on my own from books and a home made shop on a budget.
 
TJM: I am in St. Louis .....but make strictly slipjoints. I do have a power hammer and Hy press but don't use them often. My garage is crowded but you are welcome. 314 322 3222 is my cell.
