Any knives similar to these?

What they all have in common is a wharncliffe style blade with a up-angled handle. It's similar to a type of chef knife.

I've become interested in this particular style of knife. Are there any other knives out there that are like these ones?

This one doesn't have the wharncliffe shape, but due to the angle on the blade relative to the handle, I use it the same way as you describe:

edit: Actually, on second glance... the handle angles back downwards towards the back... so it's not quite the same. But It's close.

Well, almost. The angle of the handle isn't quite there, but it's close. The blade is not exactly a wharncliffle either, now that I look more closely at it.

Bastinelli also likes that style somewhat. He's used on the Dragotec line from Fox, and a few other things.

Again, similar but the handle angles DOWN at the back. It's not quite the same.

I'm seeing a lot of knives that are like that, with a very similar design to the examples I gave, but the handle, while it does angle up initially, is then angled back down again at the back.


hmmm.... 🤔 there's probably a reason for that, ergonomically.
 
My standard edc (on the left) is almost going up in the handle depending on how you gauge the swoop of the edge... The middle one is straight, and the far right one angles down.

If you are wanting a more extreme upward angle, that changes your cutting power. It's more of a slice. It's considerably less aggressive of a cut. That's why cutters are angled the way they are.

Chef like knives are made that way for finger clearance. I do that too, but a wharnie or sheepfoot usually isn't the edge then.

Yeah, more like the middle, but with more finger clearance. More slicey would be a fair way to put it since it's a lot like a chef's knife and I think that's intended purpose of the 3 examples I posted, but in the case of the schwarz overland it's also useful for bushcraft tasks.

I dug out a few more blanks with a straight edge, scale/ruler for ref. Shows what I was saying earlier



Second from the bottom is fairly extreme angled.
