Any love for SS Spydies?

I really think that those two Stainless RESCUE models from the ATS-55 era should be candidates for a Sprint Run ( in SE & PE both). You made mention desiring a plain edged version of one of those Stainless RESCUE models and you should hope for a Sprint Run because I don't think they made either one of them in PE unfortunately for those who want one. The "Deacon" who posts a lot on the Spyderco.com Forum and he is also a long time member here but I don't see him here much lately. He's got the most extensive collection of those RESCUE type (Sheepsfoot blades) knives of Spyderco's and he's also got a huge collection of the stainless models that Spyderco made over the years.

I remember asking him a few years ago if they made that model in SS handles but he said he couldn't find any evidence of it. Now he did say that they made the stainless handled MARINER model in PE which preceded the Stainless RESCUE models. And the Mariner is very similar in design. It doesn't have the bulk or rigidity of the STainless RESCUE but it is a great folder I used to have 2 of those at one time. But the ATS-55 blade steel in the stainless RESCUE models is far superior than the GIN-1 that was what they used in the MARINER.

Also in the tiny Spyders they did make a stainless version of the Ladybug too.

Yes i believe youre correct im mixing up the rescue and mariner models. I know there are a few stainless models that will be difficult to find (like a PE mariner).

Also i have a SS ladybug! I want to get the manbug in g10/SS bolsters to go with the lady and jester!
 
Well geez lol def hang onto those guys! I only ever see them on ebay occasionally and usually go for more than i can spend at that moment!
 
Nice collection. I love metal scales/handles on folders, and it being Spyderco makes it that much better!

Good luck with that one! I see them occasionally but not a price i can touch currently.

Outstanding collection, but no Native? It's always been my favorite Spyderco. I carried a black handle one for years till I switched to a OTF auto. These are my only stainless ones, never been carried or used.

Its hard for me to find a PE native when i have the cash. I think the last one i saw went for 175ish on the bay. Def cool that they are in pristine condition, i dont think i have any in that good of condition. Ive been lucky in that the aus8 endura is the piece in worst condition, fairly easily replaceable except mine is before the boye dent.

The Stainless RESCUE models C-14 & C-45 were two of Spyderco's most rigid folders ever. And yes they both have ATS-55 blade steel.

I've even been EDCing one of them in the past 5 months. Those Stainless RESCUE models are really good Spyderedged models and both of them are built like an Abram's Tank. I've owned these for quite a few years now and I won't part with either one.

So I was just wondering if those models are on your radar screeen?

Also i forgot to mention my rookie is ats55 :) i really enjoy collecting those older steels. Got a gin1 pegasus and a g2 copilot as well!
 
That is a very nice collection. I see you have fallen far down the Spyder Hole and are lost. :D

Thank you! Its really nice to get appreciation for the collection! Funny enough ive randomly found myself into ZTs lately, but im sure its just a phase haha

There were a lot of great stainless Spyderco models that came from the ATS-55 era. I think the Peter Herbst model was available in aluminum or titanium but there were a few stainless models other than the two stainless RESCUE models that I personally adore. Yeah that one ROOKIE model that one guy just mentioned in Stainless was a really nice EDC folder. The Pegasus is another model from that era. Don't forget the CoPilot and they were still making the stainless version of the C-01 Worker during that time as well.
 
Starting at about 2 o’clock is a C47 Endura 11, AUS-6 blade, no boye dent, clip only the right hand side.

Next the C43 Delica 11, AUS-6 blade, no boye dent, clip on right side only.

Haven’t got a PS C43Delica 11, all the rest are plain, part serrated and serrated models.


Then the C10 Endura 11 and C11 Delica 11 same as the C47 and C43 but with the boye dent and then the gen 4 Endura and Delica.
 
Pretty cool stuff! I have a pretty beat up aus6 endura without the boye dent. Blade is in very poor shape though :(
