No love for SAKs. Not one bit. I jest, I've left the house "without a knife" and still had two knives stashed in my everyday backpack, one being a SAK, the other an opinel. I've been in the situation of wanting a "different" knife for a certain use, but only having my choice of three SAKs, I think in that case it was a compact, explorer and rucksack. And of course I've never been under-knifed with only a SAK, my current "greatest achievement" is making sandwiches at rapid pace for 18 young men (they were grade nine, but I think they count) when a slight logistical decision on my part involved us leaving most of our kitchen supplies at the depot a little earlier than we maybe should have. But you know, that 111mm blade will open up sandwich rolls nice and easy, I was able to open the tuna cans, and the students learned a great lesson in not entirely relying on the "designated adult" and what one person can do if they plan ahead just a little, even if they don't know what they might be facing.
