Just received this new to me Benchmade 755 MPR today. Seems like a pretty solid little folder from what I can tell and it's my first foray with M390 steel.

Any love out there for this little beast?

Heh, I want one, just don't have the money. Maybe when I get my tax refund. How sharp did it come?

There is not enough love for the MPR, I think a lot of people write it off due to its size. I picked one up in December and it has been in my pocket ever since, heck it is with me right now. I love knives that my GF describes as "Tanks" and the MPR meets that requirement! It is an awesome not-so little knife that inspires confidence and can take a CRAZY edge.
Hope you like it and it is great to see someone else appreciating it.

I like mine.
I just have so many more expensive ones which keep taking up pocket time!:)

Thanks for posting the pics. I have been interested in this knife since it came out. I just haven't pulled the trigger yet. I love smallish, tank-like knives. I bought a Spyderco LeafStorm that I love and seems to me to be similar to the 755 (although I haven't handled a 755, so I don't really know). Seems like I should just go ahead and get one, but the color just isn't doing it for me.

I "love" 'em myself, and want one really bad, but I don't know why. :D

Actually, I do know why, because it's a knife, and apparently a well-made one. I am concerned about pocket real estate required to carry it though. Is it uncomfortable to carry? Can you easily get your hand in and out of the pocket it's riding in?

Anyway, now I'm kinda PO'ed at the OP because he took a couple of really nice pics and I'll have to be laying down another $160 bucks here shortly because of them! ;)

Yes but Mr Vance our Manhattan DA would probably be totally appalled by it (you don't want that to happen or you may be punished) so in his wisdom he may reinterpret the gravity knife laws to prosecute me for owning this knife which he feels would be totally inappropriate for a middle aged man to have either on his person or in the privacy of his own home. So I don't own one but I do really like it.

I would like it even better with a good stiff lock bar but it is not bad as is. It is the kind of overbuilt knife I love. The fact that it is short makes it even more appealing to me.

I think I better stick with a 12 inch butcher knife (in my home) for cutting stuff maybe a plastic blunt tip one some time in the future when NYC knife laws evolve to be even more "civilized."

I really wasn't sure how well I would like it due to the size. I have large-ish hands and I was afraid it would be a smidge too small. Somehow or another the ergos do allow me to get almost all four fingers on the handle. Good design IMO.

@Beau007, I also have a Leafstorm and the 755 is a pretty similar "feel" just a lot thicker but I think you would like it.

@Bluesstringer, sorry brother I thought my photo skills were pretty bad. I will try harder. :D

@Bluesstringer, the pocket space thing is one of the few things I don't like about the MPR, you cannot get you hand in and out of your pocket easily unless you are wearing really baggy pants. In regards to pocket realty it is very similar to my ZT 301, but it doesn't DESTROY my jeans like the machined Ti on the ZT does.
Get one, you will love it.

A couple of excellent photographs! I handled a 755 in a lgs a few weeks ago. I think I'll add one to my "buy sooner than later" list.

I carry my MPR often. It handles heavy duty cutting tasks with no problems. When mine gets a little use I just use the leather strop and it is ready to go again.

I've keep putting it down and picking back up again since I got it today. The action is really glass smooth. Almost as smooth as my Umnumzaan.

I think it really wants to go into my EDC rotation. :) Good to see some people out there liking this bulldog.

Good call. That's exactly where mine went as well. :)

Expect to have to bend the Ti pocket clip out a bit. Mine was really tight, to the point that I couldn't even slip the clip all the way down on a jeans pocket. It was a very easy fix, though.

I guess this might be Benchmade's first "little big knife".

I love the design, it's just too bad they released the wrong specs at first. When I first saw it, I was excited. Then I saw it advertised (before release) at 3.4", which was still acceptable, but then it released at 2.9", and all the steam left the boat.

I dunno about it. Don't like or dislike. What I can say is it sure don't look like a BM. Looks like Strider meets CS AK-47

I got to play with one at my local surplus store, and I liked the in-hand feel.

It was a first production run, and the lock bar was super smooth (which I know doesn't mean much) but I will probably order online in hope the lockbar might be a bit more stiff. I know the lock bar is supposed to be smooth, but has anyone had one that is sticky?

I like it, but I think I like the 0551 more...and I like the 0300 more than that...so it's kind of down my ti framelock list

Just a couple of observations-

1. Mine came with a sharper than normal edge compared with my other BM
knives.
2. M390 is hard, I use a Scary Sharp paper wheel system and it normally
takes only a couple of strokes to shaving sharp. The M390 took a lot
longer (15 min) of gentle manipulation to get to the same sharpness.
The only knife I have that comes close to the hardness is a Spyderco
Lum Chinese ZDP-189. It was a pain also.
3. Lockup us fine, fits my hand well.

Now my problem!!! The Ti clip is the poorest engineering aspect of any knife I have ever owned. I carry a knife everywhere I go. Normally dockers. This clip had a clearence of .062". Along with the roughness of the scales and the clip I would probably wear out a pair of pants in a week. The clip position
doesn't take weight and balance into consideration. This knife will saty in a drawer until I get some new clip so I can reengineer the clip and position.

Anyone else out there doing any clip work for this knife?
