Any love for the BM 810 Contego?

I have one and only carry it as an emergency knife. It's not uncomfortable for me to grip for a short time, but it sure would be in prolonged use. Mainly because of the hump your middle finger contacts as noted above. Heck of a knife for self-defense, as a user not so much.

I bought one right after they got discontinued. It’s a really nice knife but the jimping on the handle is unnecessary. The thumb ramp is really well done but the extra liner jimping doesn’t do anything other than make the knife a short term user unless you are wearing gloves. I do like the overall profile and size though. I’m not a gigantic fan of the glass breaker but I’m a firefighter so I suppose I have more of a chance to use it than the average Joe. I don’t like deep carry clips so I switched it out for a standard Emerson clip and it made the grip a little more comfortable.

I did have some QC issues on mine when I got it and it was brand new. It had the Benchmade standard off center blade, slight side to side play, and patina spots on the edge. A few days after I got it I was flicking it open and the thumb stud flew off onto the floor. Turned out it wasn’t tightened down all the way but that was an easy fix.

Ultimately I ended up selling it since it didn’t get carried that often. I’ve never had an omega spring break in any Benchmade I’ve ever owned but it’s still in the back of my head that they could fail at any time, and that contributed to me selling it as well. I think if I were to ever buy another Benchmade I would go for the 940 pattern. It’s obviously very similar to the Contego because of the designer, but it doesn’t have any of the inherent issues the Contego has.

Really enjoy my M390 version. Great action, solid lockup, just a solid knife all around. The jimping doesn't bother me, and I like that it's like an XXL 940. Also surprisingly thin behind the edge for such a thick blade. I hate it was discontinued, but at least I have one! It was originally the only Benchmade I was interested in, but I quickly got 10 more...and am looking for my 12th (Cruwear Adamas GY-1).
