The Military does look like a no-nonsense workhorse of a knife especially with the S90V steel.

If only it came with serrations.

My ideal Mil would be:

TanGreen G10 handles, part serrated S90V blade. Does spyderco do this one?

I don't think so. The only S90V has carbon fiber scales to my knowledge.

I believe it was a sprint run and doesn't seem to be showing up on the secondary market.

I have a BG-42 carbon fiber AND an S30V G-10 Military. I carry the S30V. Of all the Millies shown, this is the plain vanilli Milli. :) It is a frequent EDC and one tough sharp knife.

The others are great: D2, S90V. But they're great because we can afford them and we love our toys. For ordinary everyday hard work, the S30V is a fine choice.

Sorry I'm late to the party.

The Military is the most comfortable folder I've ever used, and the blade profile is an incredible cutter. The BG-42 version is more of a collectors item as BG-42 is pretty rare, and the regular CPM S30V version should hold it's edge a little better anyway.
If you can get one for a decent price I'd go for the S90V version, but again, most people aren't so big on steel types as I am.

Whatever version you get, it's a great choice.

BG-42 is an expensive jet engine steel (used in turbines) and supposedly holds and sharpens better than S30V, but not better than the S90V.

Plus it is soooooo lightweight for its size that when it rides in your pocket: you hardly notice it!

I have both a 30V Military and D2 Para Military, and for EDC use they are just about perfection especially the PM. I've had to go to the PM for work because the Military makes sheeple military types uncomfortable! I'm fine with that. The PM will do everything the Military will do, and it's a little more comfortable to pack.

Best large folder there is:D

Got a few, just one BG-42 Millie since my first was stolen:mad:
