I dunno about the NW part of the state, but Arkansas is a hotbed for knifemakers - especially bladesmiths. Here's the link to the member list of the Arkansas Knifemakers Association. This'll be a good place to start:
I'm in NE Arkansas and wish I lived in the NW since you have access to several in and around the NW area. AG Russell is in the area and should be able to give you several names. There are more around the Little Rock area and even more in the southern part of the state. If you really want to make contact, go to the Arkansas Custom Knife Show coming up in February in Little Rock.
Bob Dozier, AG Russell, Newt Livesay are all at your door step AG is in springdale and Livesay is in Siloam Springs. Look up a guy by the name Kevin Krein. He grinds for AG. I think Dozier is in Springdale too.
anyway-yes bob dozier is in springdale, and i had no idea.i looked him up,and drove by his shop today.i didnt feel right dropping in unanounced,so i didnt really stop.
on the way home i found "hobo joes pawn".it was a pawn shop-so i had to go in.KNIVES-it was like a magnet.i asked if they had anything by dozier-"we sure do" .
Very comfortable in the hand, weight was just right, perfect.i didnt test the sharpness,it wasnt mine
