any mountain bikers here...

Heck yes I ride! My first bike was a Schwinn High Sierra...in 1985....hard tail and solid fork......man how technology has changed. I ride a Santa Cruz Blur now. I take a Camelback with water, compact tool, pump, patch kit, power bar, swiss army knife and a small camera. Do most of my riding around the Mt Diablo foothills and Mt Diablo. Riding is great........I have always lived by the 10 minute rule. Even if you don't feel like riding, just go out for ten minutes, if you still don't feel like riding, then turn around and go home. I have never turned around after 10 minutes. Riding is therapy. Peace. John

Thats not Ugly Orange.

Its School Bus Yellow. When you get it, be sure to peel off the "IZ" in the Specialized so it reads "Special_Ed". :D

It can be your own personal short bus.

Will Do!.....and, you are right about the bike......I freaking dig it too.

jeepnut, dood I have the exact same bike! Actually I have two Bontragers: one of them is identical to yours, but bent in half from a miscalculation on my part, and the other is gloss black with no decals, and I use it to tow my daughter around. One of the best handbuilt mtbs ever.
Yeah, the Bontrager is one special bike. First purchase I made after college. Saved up for months to land the frame and transferred all my parts from my Bridgestone MB-3 Mt. Bike. The Bridgestones were fantastic as well, and well underrated. Bontrager IMHO takes all hard tails I have ever ridden. Sooo quick, and sooo nimble.

You are going to cream your jeans with that new ride you have planned.
Welcome to 2008!

That Enduro is a sweet ride. I've got an '05 Enduro Comp, and really enjoy it.
It's got good travel, good discs, and a comfortable riding position.
Your Expert should have even better shocks, which is the one thing I'd like to change on mine.

Yeah, did a lot of reading up on this bike. Should be a stellar ride! It'll open up a lot of trails that would be sketchy at best on the hard tail. But there will still be a lot of riding going on where the Bontrager will be the better choice. Or maybe I just can't let go of it... :D :)

Currently I have two Trek Y3 full suspension bikes with 2.35" Maxxis tires on them, I have a Trek 4500 with Balloon tires for commuting to and from work, a Trek 3700 with Bontrager knobbies on it, and finally a Trek 1200 road bike with 700c X 25 tires on it for moving fast on the road. I also have a Kona Eighty-Eight cruiser with Balloon tires on it for cruising the neighbor old-fogey style. I am hoping to pick up a Trek 820AL Monday afternoon so I will have one bike for each day of the week. I am a Trek man all the way, the Kona is for the wife but I still ride it more than her. I also have some InStep kiddie trailers for the grandkids or hauling stuff.

hang on to that Bontrager buddy.

Mike, why the preference for single speed bikes as far as mountain biking is concerned?

And do you have any recommendations? I'm going to start looking on craigslist, but need help filtering through all the postings.
