I was just curious, as there are people here from almost every corner on the plant...
IS THERE ANY FELLOW VIKINGS IN HERE?
Would love to make contact with fellow knife-nuts from Norway, maybe to fix some get-together or exchange mail-adresses, I feel almost all alone up here in my knife-nuttery, as all the people I know look at me as I was crazy every time I mention I love knives, and collect them too...
I`m from Oslo, Norway by the way...:D;)

Would be cool, maybe we could even fix something like the meetings the knifeguys from USA has sometime, hell even Sweden is welcome to chime in. We`re not that far away from eachother..

No but I'm from the Norwegian part of Brooklyn with Norwegian blood and perhaps my first knife which I still have is a Helle. Got it in 1947 !!

Velkommen, Bobber. I am a Norwegian knife nut. I live just outside Oslo, and as you I find it a little impossible to mention knives without being considered crazy by the people I know.
Although some find it nice to know someone who can sharpen knives for them.
And, I am bearded and ugly and could probably be considered a viking.

Hmm, I`m not bearded, but when I drive around Oslo with my Harley, people sure look like they`ve seen the vikings raiding the land again, LOL.
I live in Oslo too as you might understand, and yes, all my friends are very hapy to know someone who are happy to sharpen their knives.( I never leave home without my foldable Gerber diamond hone...
Where outside Oslo do you live...? I live at Lambertseter..

Strange thing, only one Norwegian besides me in here.......????
Can`t believe it, did`nt think the anti-knives law would do this...? LOL

It is really odd, in`t it. Once, in my time, knives was a big thing for many people. You could read in the newspapers about the Great Norwegian Knife Culture and such things, and now; this....

Guess I`ll have to say hello then,I`m from Norge.

Hmmm, one post only?Wonder where the rest went?

I'm part Norwegian and Danish (and a few other nationalities on the other side of the family). My former girlfriend is quite active in the local Sons of Norway lodge and I've attended a lot of their functions. They have a bunch of themed events and one night per year is devoted to the Old West, for which I have far and away the best costume of the group (because a lot of it isn't costume---it's gear I actually use). It's too bad the average age in that group seems to be folks left over from the Viking era.....:o That doesn't bode well for the group's future.
