I would have if Bauer would have made several at one time for a group order...

I have 2 of baers guns and they are great guns, I personally like most of what he builds, but selfishly I think my guns are better.

Baer/Busse Combat Gun/Knife Package, with Integral Light Rail $3480.00
Baer/Busse Combat Gun/Knife Package, without light rail $2889.00

ProGunner,
Yes I build all of my own guns, I was fortunate enough to spend a lot of time with a gunsmith who taught me, and the rest I have learned from shooting IPSC. I am a 1911 freak and I just really enjoy learning all about them. I have no idea how to post pictures or I would show you some of the ones I have built.

You can email them to me. progunner AT insightbb Dot com. I am a 1911 nut as well. I own a couple of Baer's other pistols (TRS and Stinger).

As a fellow 1911 nut I have to chime in here, Busse & Baer make an awesome combo. I like plain black better though so I pair my TRS and BATAC (black on black):).

Rob, what do you use as a base gun/slide & frame?

My first 45 was a G21. Way to fat for me to shoot worth a darn. I much prefer the thin profile of the 1911 frame. I got an SA XD in 45ACP last year so I could have a polymer beater and I have to say it beats the Glock for me hands down in shootability. My first trip to the range with it, I put a whole mag in the space of a coffee can lid at 15 yards, which is good enough for me. I can do much better with my Baer's. :D

I have used a little of everything, I think my favorite is caspian followed by Kimber which is not bad if you replace almost everything. American made Springfield frames and slides are not bad either.
I will try to send progunner some pics tonight so he can post them for me

Rob, check out this thread with posting instructions. This is what I do.

PG: All my friends felt the same regarding the G21 being to fat. I like the feel and am pretty accurate w/ it but have not held/shot a 1911 to compare it to. I'll have to do that.

Still keeping in line w/ this thread... What are some good brands to look for to slap those scales on? Nothing to rare or pricey yet still solid and dependable? Do all 1911 brands have removable scales?

I currently carry a Glock 21C that has been to robar for the grip reduction, it was primarily for the angle not the reduction.

It points awful close to a 1911 now

I'd be more tempted if it were a different knife (one w/o the bevels). Then there's the price tag....

Anyway, I agree with Progunner on the G21 vs. XD.45. I shoot alot of IDPA (I Don't Practice Anymore:)). I shot the 21 exclusively 2-3 matches a month all year and still never really got comfortable with it. Considered having the grip chopped, but sold it instead. I'm on my 2nd XD .45 (5" tactical), my first was the 4" service, which was great, but I sold it and went to revolver to save some $, but got a smoking deal on my 5" that I couldn't walk away from. I shoot the .45XD Tactical better than any other semi-auto that I've ever shot/had (which includes G17, G19, G36, G21, 2 4" 1911's and a 3" 1911, and a 45XD Service).
