PG: All my friends felt the same regarding the G21 being to fat. I like the feel and am pretty accurate w/ it but have not held/shot a 1911 to compare it to. I'll have to do that.
Still keeping in line w/ this thread... What are some good brands to look for to slap those scales on? Nothing to rare or pricey yet still solid and dependable? Do all 1911 brands have removable scales?
Once you shoot one, you're going to want one.
I currently carry a Glock 21C that has been to robar for the grip reduction, it was primarily for the angle not the reduction.
It points awful close to a 1911 now
I consider that when I had mine, but I didn't see the sense in spending extra on it when I could sell it and get a 1911, I think I later bought a couple of Springfields. Don't have those anymore either.
I'd be more tempted if it were a different knife (one w/o the bevels). Then there's the price tag....
Anyway, I agree with Progunner on the G21 vs. XD.45. I shoot alot of IDPA (I Don't Practice Anymore). I shot the 21 exclusively 2-3 matches a month all year and still never really got comfortable with it. Considered having the grip chopped, but sold it instead. I'm on my 2nd XD .45 (5" tactical), my first was the 4" service, which was great, but I sold it and went to revolver to save some $, but got a smoking deal on my 5" that I couldn't walk away from. I shoot the .45XD Tactical better than any other semi-auto that I've ever shot/had (which includes G17, G19, G36, G21, 2 4" 1911's and a 3" 1911, and a 45XD Service).

Greg the knife is cooler in person. Now you have me wanting a 5" XD.
