My friend was asking me about this knife. I didn't recognize the brand. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

It's a cheap knife made in Pakistan and the brand is unimportant.
I didn't even have to see the knife as the sheath is a dead giveaway, but the knife shows even more.
The fit and finish of it looks a little better than some I've seen, but the Steel is of mystery composition. I really hope your friend didn't pay much for it, and make sure to tell him not to buy anymore of them as they're not the custom handmade pieces as they're often said to be.

That's what I was thinking thank you sir

The brand is Buck and Bear

In his defense, they are "the" premium Pakistani brand export. Hopefully it is actually what they claim to make their blades out of, if so, it's a decent knife. I've almost bought one more then once on a whim, but never did pull the trigger.

Steel, while it is a science, is not rocket science. Being from an old steel town, think back to the mid 80's when U.S. steel tanked because Japanese steel was now just as good and much cheaper to import due to many factors including (steel) union wages driving up prices, foundries across the country closed up shop and unemployment in those towns, (like mine), skyrocketed... In today's day and age, 30 years later, while steel improvements, new developments, and breakthroughs are all but regular, the basic technology to make quality basic steels is readily available far and wide around the world.
The biggest question regarding Pakistani steel, IMO, is quality assurance? Who was working the beds & furnace that day, and who was in the QC dept.? Did they get the ingredients and heat treat right? It really isn't hard as much as it is attention to detail, Or did they miss a bit and say f!@# it, and passed it through anyways?
